Jillybean 12/12 stretch question

Hey any Jillybean growers!

I'm running into a problem, I think. I flipped my Jillybean plants about 1.5 weeks ago, and they've increased 50% in size. I only have enough room for them to double...after that I'm in trouble.

I thought I'd be okay because I read a grow report that said if flowered between 24 and 32 inches, she'll grow to 4 feet. I flowered just under than, but it's ridiculous how fast these are growing.

Can you remember if this strain stops gaining vertical height? And if so, when...???????

Thanks!
KG

It can be stretchy, maybe about week. There are phenos. that do the Sativa stretch, which can last another week or so more. :peace:

Ooooph, I hope so! That means this might work out after all. I can't believe how fast these have shot up ... and where there used to be just 2 inches or so between nodes, now there's 4 or 5 inches. In 1.5 weeks!

What kind of lights do you have it under? I run 1000watt switchables...... but I run the bluest MH I have (7500k) for the first 2 weeks of 12/12 and then switch to HPS after the end of week 2, it should help some... Jilly is a stretcher though... especially in clone form and absolutely the more sativa leaning phenos you'll get close to 3x if shes a happy healthy plant and of the stretchier phenos.... 2x easily though.... You will know when shes stopping though because the pistils will start growing out and the buds will start setting (taking shape)....

Got some jillybeans about 6 weeks in. I flipped em at 26" and they stop stretchin after about 3 weeks to 42" bt they were topped twice so that help cut down on the stretch

rofl, my jilly probably stretches 3-4x in flower. But I can pull 9-10oz off her after 40 days of veg. Finishes @65 days. I find she stops stretching at about 24 days.

Uh-oh. They literally grew 2 inches last night. I'm using a 400WT HPS in a 2'x3'x5.5 foot tent. They'll be hitting the light on Sunday at this rate.

I think I need a taller tent. Fuck!

Take the dominant top growth and tie it down with string or something. Tighten it a little bit every day till it's horizontal. Look at my journal and check out what I did to my Jilly. Saved her from blasting straight into my 600s! and now she has like 8 tops :blsmoke: Only took me 2 days to tie her down enough to save 5 inches of space. Either that or just chop it back a few nodes, it'll bush out real quick although you'll harvest a bit less. Hope this helps, good luck. Any pics?

Ok, just ordered a 78" inch tent with a 3x3' footprint. I would have gotten a taller one, but the footprint is larger, and I can't fit it in my apartment. It should arrive tomorrow. Meanwhile, I have a fan blowing continuously below the light to keep the temps below 80 degrees even as the tops are getting so, so close.

I'll switch tents on the weekend. God Bless Amazon! This should give me another full foot, so they can use that -- but if they grow bigger than that then I just don't know what I'll do. This tent is a little deeper than my current one, so I can start pulling the stalks out some more as per Cann's suggestion -- right now they're right up against the sides of the tent. That extra foot will come in handy.

Thanks for all the advice! I will post pics this weekend. I topped for four main colas, so these two plants look like 8.

Cool good luck! Much cheaper to bend & tie though.

I'll be doing that, too. :) I'm glad these girls are so healthy...but for someone new to the game it is a bit of a challenge. Lots of curve balls along the way. HOWEVER, the silver lining is that my plants are probably going to be ready about a week apart in January, and I didn't have anywhere to hang the one plant while the other finished. Now I can use the smaller grow tent as a drying tent! LOL

Alright figured I would share this since she has responded so positively. First off, she was vegged for about two months before the lights were flipped on 11/17. The first picture was the day I tied her down (11/22) she is the back right plant in the left hand row. Second picture is her response the day after. Third and fourth pictures are about a week later into flower. Last picture was taken a few minutes ago (close to 2.5 weeks flower), notice how many heads she is forming! We will see how many of these will turn into dominate colas, at least two or three I imagine.

Even if you don't have height issues with the new tent you might want to consider tying her down simply to increase yield :bigjoint: she seems to love bondage more that most of the other plants in my garden... I had a qush that I literally couldnt tie down it was too strong, but jilly is very flexible :hump: just how I like my ladies. Oh and I used hemp twine to tie her to the pot, synched down and adjusted a little bit every few days if shels trying to break free. Good luck man!

I have only had an 8th of jillybean, but what I did have,
although wasn't the most potent weed, it put me in a great mood
each time I smoked it, and gave me laughing fits on more than one occasion.
