if you ever are questioning whether or not to jar cure your bud after harvest, remember this post.

right now i'm enjoying a 2 month old jar cured g13 diesel. the smoke is so incredibly smooth. i can taste lemon mainly, but there are some nice orange undertones and just a little earthy goodness (it was grown in dirt, %100 organic). i can't believe it. about a month ago i dropped a small slice of lemon peel in there (kept it in there for about a week) and it is still beautifully sticky. seriously, i'm ripped. so yeah, get those mason jars and cure that shit properly. especially if its for home consumption, you'd have to be mildly retarded to not jar cure.

so all a jar cure is..... is hanging the bud for 4-7 days until the stems snap then jaring them.. right??

sick i need to get some proper glass curing jars,id have to smoke it in stages with a bumper harvest,stashing lots away in jars,and just smoking as i do,and as i go along,the weed in the other jars should get nicer and nicer

once they are dry,can you just leave them in the sealed jars?thats the idea right?

There is no substitute for a good cure. I was reading up on someones report who had taken the bud on the day it was dry, put it in jars that were painted black, vacuumed the air out and stored them with labels for their opening date.

He reported that if anything over the course of his two year experiment the buds had improved in taste and high dramatically.

STOPCALLINGMEDUDE, DUDE
Go to your local bar/lounge ,somewhere they serve mixed drinks and have them save all of their LARGE ( one gallon) glass olive jars. You can use these to cure in, and their free , well, you might want to tip the barkeep.
MAKE SURE THAT YOU OPEN THE JARS ABOUT THREE TIMES A DAY, LEAVE THE LID OFF FOR ABOUT HALF AN HOUR, THEN CLOSE IT UP AGAIN. This allows for the chlorophyll to dissipate and the bud to dry evenly. As for the bud getting more potent as it cures ,I'm not sold on that one , after a certain point the resins are going to peak out,I think that point probably occurs during the drying process, not so much in the curing phase, could be wrong though, that happens now and then.
After curing , vacuum seal in small bags and put in freezer, anyone try this? :peace:

Don't put in the freezer, not good. vacuum sealed jars in a cool dark is the best

do keep in mind that there are many strains that are great and completely ready to smoke right after the hang. i have found that some elite strains have the same smell taste and high after just drying and curing for a couple days as they do curing for weeks or months. blue dream, shishkaberry, urkle, TW...but i can say the smoke gets smoother. I am not against curing, but the diff is not huge with many strains. perhaps i have just never pulled anything that smells remotely like hay or grass, my shit is always super right after the drying.

My neighbor gave me some shitty ass bud that literally smelled like alfalfa. We put it in a air tight jar from my roommates work. (Science Lab). It literally cured enough to be considered for our hash stash. Cured for like a month and half. Hope that helps

It's not to do with strains, but science and getting the full potential out of your herb and making your buddz safer to smoke

i dunno if i am biting on this one, i mean...i know the science behind it. but have found that a cure is really only needed when you have flowers that turm out to be a bit undesirable. im sure it helps smell potency and flavor as well as the smoke, but like i said...i have not found it to be neccessary. my indoor buds are killer right off the plant...a bit of drying and bam...chronic...now dont get me wrong, my outdoor shit is curing right now. this will be needed because the bud is subpar otherwise. it looks good but the smell and taste is not where i want it yet

i thinking when you harvest has alot to do with it to , i think if you harvest when the plant is getting dry from needing water again the bud will already have most moisture already out of it , i never had to hang a bud 4 days to dry , i think thats a long ass time to hang bud to dry , ive only need like 24 hours but thats prolly cause i harvest on the day i would water

Can you tell me why putting weed in 1oz.vacuum sealed bags in the freezer is a bad idea ? I know that freezing will make the trichomes break off from the weed , but since I vape ,I have not seen a problem with that . I keep some of these bags frozen for up to a year.....seems to work for me. :weed:

I have found that curing does remove more of the chlorophyll from the weed. When I put my weed in the curing jar I can smell the chlorophyll for a week or more, THEN I notice the sweet smell of the resins coming back after about two weeks, WORKS FOR ME.....

for sure, I just pull one out as I need ,break it up into the canning jar,and keep it in the fridge, never had a problem yet,,,,except that it seems to get used up fairly quickly... :-P

I have also done this and it worked wonders. Even works better when the buds are really fresh!! Like 1 day hang cure, then right to the jars. Takes WAYY longer and you have to be on it like crazy or they WILL mold.

you do nto freeze if you are after a cure, the active enzymes will not breakdown the chems in the plant to get the desired effect. see you cure to...nevermind. just an FYI, freezing your bud does not cure it.

for sure, you do not want to put weed away wet ! I dry for a week or two, then into jars for another 21 days ,opening a couple times a day, then when it is as cured as i want it to be i vacuum seal and freeze.
