Jack the Ripper...In depth Report~

This is the story of Jack the Ripper and it is a fine example of what can happen along the way during a breeding project. I have always wanted to have Jacks Cleaner in seed form. I have been prompted to Self her using STS but I don’t believe in that type of breeding I feel a male plays a vital role in breeding projects. About 6 years ago I used a Blueberry to outcross the Jacks Cleaner to. Bushy Old Grower used some of these seeds to create the famous lifesaver. Two years ago I used the Jacks Cleaner x Blueberry to back cross the Jacks Cleaner to and created Jacks Cleaner back cross. Lost yet? I’ll try and untangle this mess as we continue on this journey.
Even though the JC bx kicks ass, has won awards and is used in breeding projects it was not what I was looking for. Also about that time I ran Vic’s Space Queen and found it to be some of the best weed I ever smoked. We also found an amazing Space Queen male that Jill used to create Jillybean and we used to create Spacejill. It was not an easy decision but we decided after working with Space Dude he was a much better choice for a parent to outcross Jacks Cleaner to and re started completely over passing on the Jacks Cleaner back cross and Jacks Cleaner Blueberry to other members of TGA.

We used our standard breeding methods and completed the project on schedule and promptly started a test run of these new seeds. One weird trait of this new hybrid is twin seedlings. Many growers have reported duel sprouts form one seed but it’s normal for one not to survive when this occurs. All the seeds were started using rapid rooters with no pre soaking. I like to be as rough as possible and I never pamper test runs, once seedlings came up and developed nice roots I transplanted them into 1 gallon containers and placed under a 400 watt Metal halide light. Once the plants matured the males were taken to a separate area and the best possible females were tagged and the rest tossed. We ended up with 3 females we felt met or selection criteria. The plants were topped and trained and vegged for about 45 days and reached a size of 24” with multiple growing heads.
Once in bud the plants quickly started swelling with buds and by day 25 copious amounts of resin had become visible. Once in bud things got interesting when we had visible resin at just 2 weeks of budding and by week 3 we had a nice build up of trichomes and the first hints of the Lemon smell I was looking for.

One of the female plants stretched so much I had to bend her severely to keep her close to equal to the rest of the crop. Even the lower buds drip with resin and I am happy to report the mango lemon smell I was looking for I nailed it dead center. Normally I top all plants in our garden but with test plants it takes up less room if I leave them un topped and as I usually am moving them about a lot taking pictures and such it just makes them more manageable.

You can see in the picture the plants developed nicely grown in only my own super soil and in a 5 gallon pot fed only water the entire run to test her natural ability to produce without being pushed you can see the results speak for themselves.

Maturing much faster than JC was another hopeful goal and at 50 days I’d say we nailed that trait as well. All three females are alike with the exception of the height of the one female. To avoid numerical confusion we gave each female a name. Lemango became the tall one that looked more Space Queen dominant. Soylent Green was apparently the largest of the three as far as cola size and the plant most resembling Jacks Cleaner with her predictable resin leaf curl was given the name Pink lemonade. This is the plant that became the star during multiple sessions in front of my lens.

The trichome production is off the chart and she has the classic raised head on a tall stalk that’s so classic of JC. I feel this represents the total sum of what I’ve learned and collected doing this my entire adult life. To be able to pass on traits I have seen attributed to the mother plant and then to actually create a Phenotype with the same qualities and maybe even some improvements is truly humbling. The plant has Pink resin ok? I mean would you be happy or what? Now I have a gene pool to work with and continue the Cubing of the original Jacks Cleaner f1 to produce a more stable line but variety is the spice of life among tokers and each of the females we found is a legendary keeper in itself. I enjoy each plants smoke equally but there are subtle differences that make it nice to choose from according to my needs.
Lets review why I made JTR! I would like to have Jacks Cleaner in seed form. I have been prompted to STS but I don’t believe in it. About 6 years ago I used a Blueberry to outcross the JC to. BOG used some of these seeds to create the famous lifesaver. Two years ago I used the JCB to back cross the JC to and created JC bx. Lost yet? Even though the JC bx kicks ass has won awards and is used in breeding projects it was Not what I was looking for. Also about that time I ran Vic’s Space Queen and found it to be some of the best weed I ever smoked. Jacks Cleaner P1 X Space Queen

As good as JC bx was, I learned a lot in 6 years breeding and growing almost full time and I was confident I could find a better male using patterns to find the recessive drug traits. So instead of continuing a cube I wasn’t 100% satisfied with the outcross I decided to start again using two different lines to establish the best. JTR is the first outcross to be completed using a Spacequeen male; the second will be a Cindy99 outcross. The goal here is to establish the best possible outcross to cube back to JCf1. The cool part is the outcrosses are sometimes better than the parent strains, I feel this is the case with JTR. The Lemon tart of JC has combined with the candy mango flavor of the Spacequeen to create a resinous marvel. Maintaining JC’s heavy structure and potency the female dominated this cross with the exception of adding some sweet mango flavor and smoothing out JC’s harsh toke. I will be doing my best to enter this strain in the 2006 Cannabis Cup.

1. Phenotypes -Moderately stable with heavy Jacks Cleaner traits.
2. Height-Tall with long stretch/ Colas swell late
3. Yield-Medium-Heavy / Moderate trim work
4. Indoor/ Outdoor
5. Best way to grow- Topped and placed in bud early due to stretch.
6. Harvest Window_8-10 weeks
7. Sativa/ Indica 80/20
8. Hybrid-Pluton X Purple Haze X Lambsbread X NL X Jack Herer X Romulan X Cindy99BCGA
9. High type-Intense, trippy, visual, phase shifting, increased heart rate, heavy crash increased appetite, pain relief, paranoia
10. Lemon mango pine hash/ Taste like lemon hash
11. 100% Full melt extreme potency

These plants were not topped as I usually would because I have 3 and they simply take up less room. You can see they would do well topped or columnar and in 30 days I can’t imagine how large this cola will get!

Looks just like JC but I guarantee I cracked these beans myself!

Look at the JC like frost!

I am sorry I am excited normally I am more scientific.

30 days of 12/12

These pictures were taken with the Nikon 5400. Not bad huh? This is the first time we pollinated JC with Space dude and I loved these pics of exposed dark striped seeds. JTR seeds are massive almost like baby coconuts. The fact we got such a good outcross is just about knowledge since I made JCB years ago I have started at least a hundred strains if not more and even though I still am using a basic idea of outcrossing with a tasty less dominant male I Know the Space Queen is a much better choice and will improve the mom instead of water her down as with JCB.

I cannot see how this could produce anything but dank?

This is the tallest female and I had to bend her severely to keep her close to equal to the rest of the crop. Even the lower buds drip with resin and I am happy to report the mango lemon smell I was looking for I nailed it dead center.

I think the best news about this strain is there available now..We have a lot of cool things from tasty to pretty to sativas to crazy combos of berry and lemon but I’m taking this to the pot snobs party.

Well I was doing some cleaning in the grow room and I looked over and noticed the Colored leaf curl has gotten even more extreme. Were scheduled to harvest next week sometimes and I can’t wait. This pheno is deff as good or better than mom and I only have one other strain that is this resinated and that’s Tiny Bomb and it’s my favorite head stash so I am very excited.
Could I have got the desired effect from just a single out cross with Sq? Yes there is variation but each female is BAD ASS!. The SQ dom looks to fast to be mega potent but she has huge dripping Mango smelling buds

The smell is a combination of lemons and mangos it reminds my of sour gummi worms!

I think shes coming down in the next few days but I have had a blast watching her turn colors and get sticky. Shes no where near a cold source now and continues to take on the pink hue. This plant is even more resinous than mom.

Having a Pink lemonade smell her color really fits well and I get the feeling this ones permanent in our head stash. I cannot tell you what it feels like to create something of the magnitude. This plant came out of a seed!! When I started this hobby years ago the ONLY way to get something this good was in clone form and even then this would give serious competition to most of those old elites.

This is Lemango or #6, I found a lone naner on her about day 45 and plucked it off and shes been clean every since. It’s possible some heat got to her cause shes so damn tall!
I bent a U in here during the bondage phase and that’s the only reason shes not 6 feet.
I smoke tested lower buds taken at day 50 last night and 3 hits I was jut ripped up and smiling. I will run her again but going into bud much earlier.

This strain smells kinda like lemon mango Cake with lots of butter in the mix. She has a very warm comfy smell but shes not exactly JC or SQ I guess that’s the idea but this is not the dominant pheno you will see the other in a second and she mimicks the first except shes not pink.

Ok so here is Soylent Green ( Its People you idiots!) Chalie Heston I think~
This would be the money maker for you guys into the numbers game. Shes bulky all the way down and were under 8 weeks and shes ready to pull. I will give her a few more days cause that’s what its all about.

This one doesn’t have quite the copious resin as Pink lemonade but there is certainly no shortage.

I can’t wait to smoke test all three of these beauties. The JC looking ones have much more of that lemon tartness and well the pink ones just insane looking.

Ok so by now I am beyond excited. The books say you have to start thousands of seeds and go to college to get these kind of results. Can it really be as easy as Dank X dank = Danker?
Ed still thinks not but time and time again you will see what a good eye and some hard work and passion can result in.

We also selected the most resinous and dankest male to pollinate our Apollo-13 Mother plant.
If you can't find a proper genetic line to create the flavors you want then maybe making your own is the best route?

I first want to start off by saying WOW, anyone who harvests this pheno will know for sure it's the Soylent pheno once they start to trim her, your eyes burn like wild from the very strong pine and lemon cleaner smell. I'm telling you honestly and not shatting you one bit my eyes watered and my nose burnt the whole time trimming this trimming nightmare, sticky icky.... This will not be a huge yielder as I made seed from this run but it is the frostiest plant I've grown, and believe you me I've grown some champs in that department (pineapple skunk, OG champagne Kush, MK Ultra & Heck Vortex to name a few). This plant produced very thin screwdriver handle thickness buds that pretty much stopped active calyx growth early and produced copious amounts of resin instead, resin production was evident from day 12 in 12/12 but really started to fatten up the heads around day 50 or so. Unlike my funky pheno of Vortex the resin glands stood much shorter on this JTR which made it look like it was blanketed in white cloudy resin heads very early, the Vortex all though a resin factory has long glands and without any magnification harvest can be visually distinguished with the help of the wide separation of the large glandular heads, this due to the longer glandular stock. This pheno of JTR is incredible in the fact that there doesn’t seem to be a visually active gland head, yet the whole stalk and the head are one mass of resin(sorry folks no macro’s this time my Nikkor 90mm is being repaired), and due to its closer proximity made it not only look blanketed but was a trick to try and trim at a decent rate. Trimming would have been a breeze as the buds grew very little leaf and what leaf it did grow where single segment leafs... essentially resin leafsickles, but they where sticky and very greasy when cutting causing multiple stoppages due to scissor gumming and the inevitable goo smoke as we continue trimming .

Its no secret that many UK growers consider American breeders wankers, but look what a few hard core Brits had to say about JTR

Hi...thanks SHSG, Peesh and Banana man is that mr b on AN?

To answer yer question I'll try to desribe my smoking experience with the ripper...through out the day I smoke somewhat mild but consistent usually taking a puff here a puff there and usually not getting overwhelmingly hi...however later this afternoon I wanted to get testy with the Jack and take more than a mild 1-2 hit dose and I believe I took about 5+ cool hits I really don't remember as it was an experience... that lasted quite some time...the hi is very strong in the head almost feeling it inside yer head physically and makes an over the top pain killer because it is so thought provoking and will put you in a different realm of thinking and definately make you forget about pain...some paranoyia but very pleasant at the same time...makes a good cheery day smoke if taken in light doses...very flavorful, very fruity all phenos smell like 1 fruit or another...the hi is very creeper....at first you make think this aint that strong but then whammo...it hits you hard and there's no turning back then...you will be deep in thought and meditative for quite some time...the duration and intensity is strong and thought provoking....definately at the APEX of great genetics hats off to breeder...Subcool, and Miss Jill & TGA family and associates....world class kick ass super grass.....

I hope this answers yer question SHSG...peace and thanks fer stoppin by...

JTR grown by an Oregon Medical Co-op harvesting 4 pounds.

Ok so thats it this is the hybrid that started it all. No matter what people thought of TGA once people started growing out this cross and smoking it the word spread and no matter what I do for the rest of my life this work will live on in gardens everywhere.

If I sound proud I am so please excuse me I am just a simple pothead that made JTR:roll:

I haven’t taken pictures of Jack the Ripper in awhile. The ones on this post were taken in 2006 and 2007. After the book I am trying to beef my picture files back up as I moved everything pre book onto a portable 80 gig drive for storage.

The high from JTR is quite the experience starting with white noise after just a few hits then heavy visual impairment and an almost psychedelic high.
Shes impressive to even a seasoned pothead and one of my favorite traits is lemon smelling bong water???

When used in edibles and prepared tinctures this is powerful medicine.
When smoked it tends to be a bit harsh do to all the resin.
There are medical cuts available all over the west coast and its pretty easy to locate this short beefy female.
I donated a trey to the local med co-op and its circulated in legal circles everywhere!
