Issues with site performance

Hey hi folks,

the past week or so I have been having issues with the site loading, especially the pictures which suddenly are taking so long to load my patience times out before I get to see them
And it's not my internet connection, it's just on RIU.

So I'm wondering if download times have been throttled on your server side or something like that?
And if so, is this something permanent?

Thanks!

i dont think its on our side if we had problems we would have alot of people making threads like this, and so far youre the only one. people really are vocal when riu is slow ,
but maybe it is us, so lets try to narrow down some stuff

is it happening all over the forum or just say big threads?
are the pictures really big photos?
are they higher resolution IE: taken with a real camera vs an iphone
pc or mobile?
what browser do you use?
have you cleared your cache?
have you checked your router, internet settings or wifi?

I'll have to check how big the pix are - but yes it's happening all over the place, in big, small threads and journals too. They're threads I have been visiting regularly and haven't had problems with before (so even if the pix are large, they're bound to be same size as before since it's the same users posting).

Yes I did do a major cache clearance a few days ago - but site graphics etc. are now recached tho and thus I'm not loading everything when I go to any given page (which could also be a reason for the slowdown).
I use Firefox but was also using it before these problems showed up, same goes for my router/internet settings which are working fine for all other sites ;)

So, given no one else is complaining and the RIU servers have no issues, it must be some bottleneck en route, which neither you nor I can really do anything about AFAIK? sighs

It's possible it maybe us
I just said I don't think it is the only reason I say that is cause users are vocal when Riu is slow
I'll pass on the issue to the web dev though as to make sure we cover all basis :)
The reason I asked all the questions is cause I like to give the web dev as much info to go on as possible :)

I've been having the same problem as well. Extremely slow download on pictures when using riu, I don't even bother viewing anymore. My internet connection is also fine seeing as how my Xbox one is still running great.
