Island Girl - scrog

I bought some stuff called Island Girl a year or so ago. Never heard of it, dont know where it comes from, I do live on an island so it might be a local strain, I really dont know. Anyway, It was pretty nice and one of the buds had a seed in it, so I planted it. It grows nice and bushy and its real easy to care for, only issue Ive had so far on the last 2 grows the buds just werent that dense, Im gonna try to fix that this time around. Post up if you know anything about this strain, like where it comes from.

Anyway, on to the grow.. I use Pro-mix BX with some perlite added at about 3:1 or so. My veg box is an attic crawlspace in the back of my closet with some plywood walls put up and painted white. I run a 400 MH in there 18/6, I would do 24/0 but its just too hot in there during the day. Its 95 degrees in there right now and the light is off, there isnt much I can do about that, but the plants in there are always in good shape as long as theyre watered on time. Airflow in there is excellent at least. Heres a pic, you can see mu bubble cloner in there too (which i dont even use anymore).

Heres my mother plant. I took her out of the box and put her in the shower for the pic, that didnt help much. At current size, she gives me 4 clones every 2 weeks, which is far more than i can actually use. Shes gotten too big for my operation here (2 plants per crop, harvest every 2 months) so Im thinking of either flowering her and getting a new mom, or cutting the majority of her branches off to make her smaller. If she were smaller I could have a smaller veg box and use less electricity. Before I take clippings, I give her straight water for 2 feedings, then back on the regular diet right after.
You can tell from this pic that Im an LST guy, even the mom gets tied down.

I take 4 clones at a time, I started using rooting powder a couple months ago and have had a 100% success rate since. I hear gels are better, and understand why, but I cant find any locally and im paranoid about ordering off the internet. 2 days before I clip them of their mom, I decide which branches im going to use, and trim any additional growth shoots off them. Not leaves though.
A year ago I built a bubble cloner, and the results were hit or miss. Some clones would have insane root systems after 2 weeks, some never got any. Probably user error if you know what i mean. Now im using jiffy pellets in the humidity dome from my old cloner, and Im real happy with the resuts. Generally 3 out of 4 will have a couple roots poking through after 7 days, from what ive been reading, thats some pretty good performance. After 10 days all 4 have roots poking out, I transplant the 3 strongest ones into 16 oz cups.

They only stay in the cups for about 10-12 days before they want water twice a day. Then its on to 6" pots where the LST begins. At that point I take the best 2 of the 3, and the third one is given away to friends, or planted in my neighbors tomato garden at night without telling her lol. Beats throwing it away.

Here are 2 that just got transplanted into cups the other day, those leaves still dont look happy about the transplant, but they will in a couple more days.

grow looks really good. im interested to see how the scrog works. i never wanted to throw a screen there just because i like to move my plants around depending on if some grow bigger than others.

one thing i can't figure out though is that you're paranoid about ordering off the internet, BUT you have no problem sneaking plants into your neighbours tomato garden lol hahahaha

Thanks
Scrog is great when you have limited space. When a branch or plant is growing faster than the rest, you just move it to a hole thats farther away, problem solved.
My neighbor is 80 something yrs old, she goes to sleep at 9 right after watching Matlock

Veg box is 30 inches high, 30 inches deep, and 40 inches wide. Flower box is 34 inches wide, 18 inches deep, and roughly 60 inches tall including the light and air duct on top, and a 6 inch high drainage system underneath.
This is my first time with 2 plants in it. First time with 1 plant i got 2 oz off roughly 10 branches. Second time with 1 plant I got 3.5 oz with about 25 branches. Both times the buds came out smaller than they should because I did a lot of shit wrong during flowering. Right now with 2 plants in there i have close to 50 branches above the canopy, and so far the buds are looking considerably thicker than the last time around. So depending on how fat i can get these buds, I'll be looking at 6-8 oz dry.

For one, I believe my pot was too small. It was in a 2 gallon pot and it started acting rootbound 4 weeks into flower. Second, I didnt use any good nutrients, just some crap i bought at Lowes. Every fan leaf had fallen off before the trics even started growing, for the last few weeks of flowering it looked like a bunch of sticks with buds on the ends, and the buds were yellow, real yellow, same yellow as the leaves that fall off. Also, I didnt cut off the little popcorn buds at the bottom of the plant. This time around Im cutting off any branches that dont make it to the canopy.
Gonna be a few more days til i take any more pics.

These 2 were needing daily watering in the cups so I transplanted them into 6" pots. I also mist them a few times a day after a transplant at this stageYou may notices they are planted at a slight angle, pointing towards us. Thats because theyre going to get tied over in that direction as soon as the roots dig in to their new home. I lst them in 3 out of 4 directions, leaving one side "clear" for when they grow into the screen later on in life.

And one more from the flowering crop. Every time I take a close up pic, my phone downsizes the pic when i mail it to myself. I suck at phones and stuff like that and I cant figure out how to make it stop that. I even got in there 2 minutes before sunrise today so i could get a pic without the hps running.

Theyre dropping a dozen or so leaves a day, all from the bottom..so far. I tried something a little richer in nitrogen at feeding the other day, hope it makes a difference. Oh, and the leaf tips on the right side of the pic are pointing down because they grow up against the door.

Last pic for tonight is some of the stuff on top of my flower box. My reflector is top mounted to a big rectangular hole cut on the top of the box. If I knew the air cooling worked so well, I would have just mounted it inside the box. the buds will probably never get as close to the light as they could handle, at its current height. Next crop, I will move the screen up 6" and veg them for a week or 2 longer.
The green thing is the reservoir for my gravity fed irrigation system. You can sort of see the hose coming out the bottom. Its pretty awesome for 3 or 4 dollars and is a must when your plants arent movable.

I grow the main stem horizontally in one direction, and i'll grow the next biggest branch horizontally in the opposite direction. Theyre growing an inch a day and will be getting real bushy in the next week or 5.
