Is this the beginning of bud rot?

Does look like somethings awry there. Not the typical look of botrytis, usually a bud has to be bigger and it happens on the inside. You bend the bud open and see the grey fuzzy mold growth.

Not exactly sure that's what this is, but somethings going on. Is that part of the bud drying out / dead?

Budworms brother, BT sprays can help with the actual presence of the cats but like thumper said, cut it out clean the area. Only thing you can do about rot once its there is remove it and move on. You know your source of whats causing it, manual hunting the budworms is the best way to go about it. BT is "safe" to spray up till harvest but I guess its never a good idea to spray flowers unless you absolutely have to so use discretion if you plan on it. Be vigilant! Cats are no joke, can be as small as a grain of rice and burrow into your flowers making it nearly impossible to see them if you dont know what to look for. Most people notice them only after seeing what you have going on. Next season preventative BT spraying before flower and through the first few weeks would work great.

Help! Is this the begining if bud rot? I noticed this brown area on this bud, i inspected it and even saw a bud worm inside! Is this browning a sign of bud rot? What should i do? How can i prevent it?
doesn’t look like the beginning, it starts from the inside and works out! That is bud rot!

If you saw a worm then that’s your problem. Get you some BT and start hitting them. Cut out the infected area and pray them down.

Yes, and like another member pointed out it starts from the inside...so this is bad. I would do your best to remove that section and bend all the buds a bit to see how many have it. Not sure how far along you are in flower but you may want to consider harvesting sooner than later to save the flowers that are still good. I lived by the coast and would get that every time... super frustrating

I have been dealing with bud rot too, no worms but I am by the coast, what I do is cut 2” below the bud rot and mist straight peroxide(from the dollar store 3%) on the cut site. At night or evening, if you spray peroxide during the day it burns the plant. Some strains do better than others with the bud rot, and indoors is a totally different story for me. Shorter flowering time helps because they aren't exposed to the elements as long. I also use beneficial bacteria foliar sprays that would probably help a little more if I was consistent.

Bugs are good helpers at locating the bud rot, they always migrate to the bud rot I think because its soft and easy to nibble on. I thank them for helping me find it and send them on to bug heaven;)

It hurts to cut of those beautiful developing buds, but its better than loosing the entire plant to bud rot.

Oh How it hurts! If anyone has any tricks they use to prevent this I would love to hear them! Next year my number one goal for growing outdoor will be to prevent bud rot.

(: :peace:

Yup that's bud rot. Stick your finger up and down the stalk on the cola, see if it's mushy, often it's invisible. If it's just that one brown spot, carefully but thoroughly remove all that damage. Youll have to ask others if there is stuff they could spray on it, like 3% hydrogen peroxide mixture, but I don't know about sprays, I just cut all that stuff out, even if i gotta top the bud.
