Ive got a 2x UV simulated sunlight/ 2x heatlamp setup and I was wondering if there is such a thing as too much light??

the 9 nine plants that I have left of my first ever grow (history on newb thread) are getting a lot of light at the moment, and theyve actually improved significantly from yesterday...but I want to play it safe, which is why Im hoping one of you pros will help me out.

:peace:

I'm going to chime in on the heat lamps also ... bad idea! The only problem with a ton of light is that usually you get a ton of heat. Make sure you have amazing ventilation/air circulation when using lots of lights. But heat lamps? Why? Bad idea indeed.

The more light, the less stretch you'll get. I thought my starts were 'stunted', short and bushy, but when they went to 12/12 they looked great.

Why not just use a powerful light if you're so worried about them getting cold? There's a reason why people use products like ventilated lighting systems. This way you will decrease the chance of damaging, or stressing out your plants.
Maybe a heating pad for seedlings.

aah, fuck. I spent like tons of money on those lamps.....
I think farmers use those for breeding chicks etc. Not sure what else they're used for ... anyway, maybe you can sell them to a farmer. :~) Incidentally, cool is not a bad thing, as long as you stay above 70, it's actually better. No spider mites and potentially more females.

If he wants to get a basking lizard, he's golden. Add a UVB tube and a nice cage and you've got the perfect setup for an iguana, tegu, etc.
