Is there any advantage to a longer veg time?

Just a quick question. Is there any advantage to keeping a plant in the vegetative stage for longer periods? Obviously bigger plants means bigger yield. But I'm thinking more about if there are any effects to the flower. Like taste, density, potency, or other things of that nature?

I've seen a lot of discussion surrounding SOG vs SCROG focused mainly on quantity and logistics. But never any real discussion about the quality of the end result. Is there a difference?

Thank you for your time

I doubt it, weather you veg for 4 weeks or 4 months the potency will be the same, only the yield is affected. my opinion.

Yeah, longer veg = bigger root mass, bigger yield, longer wait, and needs more nutes/water/grow media

To answer the second part of your post, it depends if you are doing SOG by using many plants.

The big difference between SOG and SCROG is that SOG uses many plants to create a canopy, while SCROG uses few plants that are lst'd and hst'd to create a canopy.

Moreover, there are tremendous benefits to vegging longer for SCROG, while vegging shorter for SOG. For SCROG, you want to be able to fill a canopy, evenly, with just a few plants, while for SOG, all you need is many plants that have a single main stem, hence while they dont need to veg long.

It's all about the yield, agreed.
I like them to reach maturity though (around 6 weeks) cos I feel this may effect potency, but that's based solely on my instinct and has no scientific credibility as far as I'm aware! lol
