some people like to put thier plants in 24hrs of dark just before introducing 12/12 light change... it's the 12/12 change that really causes the flowering process.

You force flower by putting your plant under 12/12 lighting at any size. You can start the flowering process by giving it 24 hrs of just darkness then 12/12 lighting.
So your friend is partially right but it needs to be kept under 12/12 so it can continue to flower.

As mentioned, the action of switching to 12/12 is what forces flowering, almost immediately. I can always tell by day 2 or 3, that they've reacted, so never saw the point of 24 hours of darkness. Would speeding it up one or two days,(doubtful, but for arguements sake) really be worth the added stress of confusing them with that darkness? IMO, it's not. Just switch them straight to 12/12, and if you have a 'normal' strain, in good health, you'll see preflowers within 10 days(usually less), and'll start to see them stretching, within the first couple days. That's pretty fast, if you ask me. :)

Ya i did notice a change when i did first put it into my shed the first couple of days. You are probly right . I was gonna put it in 24 darkness because i thought it would be better to get it into flowering stage but ill just leave it at 12/12 light and dark. THANKS!

yeah i've did this so called technique with 24 hours of darkness and 48 hours of darkness to force flower then 12/12. to me it just the same as just flipping the timer to run 12/12 from when you want to start flowering.. i found nothing improved by leaving the plant in the dark.

Bingo. Once they've had that first 12 hours of darkness, the process has been set in motion. The extra hours, are unnecessary, IMO. :)

lets put it like this. if you were to force yourself to sleep for 2 days and then woke up. would you be energized to do stuff? I don't i feel like shit from sleeping so long. so why do you think your plant look like they r dragging when put into the dark for to long without light?

Yes, I probably would be "energized", and get alot done that day. BUT, if I'd slept like normal, then worked two normal days, it'd be more productive than what I'd get done in that single, energetic day. It's not worth it.
