Is there a way to calculate AC cost savings? (is it based off kw used?)

for example, trying to see how much AC cost is saved when using an HLG vs gavita running all day.

i know the HLG uses around 500W and gavitas is 1000W. the difference is pretty much all heat, so theres 500W of heat being output nonstop.

the difficult part is figuring out how AC cools it - 1 W of AC cools 1 W of heat output? im sure its not that simple.

any ideas?

I think btu has to be in the equation to calculate the heat output of lights
Then calculate how much it costs to run an ac for an hour and how many btu it can cool
Then deduct that from the btu of light output

Confused myself lol

I think you're right!

1 watt-hour = 3.412142 BTU, so lets say 1000w of light is 34,000 BTU.

An AC moves (pumps) heat from one place to another, it doesn't consume or destroy heat, so it's not so simple as 1w of AC = 1w of heat.

The AC I just looked at is 12,000 BTU and 1kw. So, 3400/12,000 = 0.283kw of AC. Or I could be clueless! :P
