This thread should kick ass.
I say it is, which is exactly why I tried TGA. Most of them yield great, pick something that makes your mouth water just reading about it and have fun. :weed:

...and it isn't just the TGA gear. It's more that the information and techniques of the breeder (Subcool) are the most popular here and so naturally that is tied to his strains and that is what makes the seeds much more valuable. It's like a huge owner's manual from watching subcool breed plants on the weed nerd through germination, growth, harvest, cure, smoke, fuck you name it. And all you have to do is post questions you have. That is fucking ridiculous, lol.

Are there any TGA "strains" that are stable and produce a known phenotype or is it still a lucky-dip pheno hunt?

Lucky dip pheno hunt. People get offended by the word stable... they tend to use stable for hermie issues. I have had nothing but bad luck with TGA personally. Out of around 12 seeds, 1 female....

I said I was keeping my opinion out but finding others with similar opinions forced me to post :)

This is what I don't like about TGA, I like the term "lucky dip". I think Sub is an awesome marketer, he has convinced so many people that unstable genetics are good. In fact he "intentionally keeps them unstable so that you can pick your favorite" I call bullshit, this is just lazy practice for a man who keeps pumping out mediocre strains, 21 strains I believe but they have very little difference. SpaceQueen is in like half of his strains, anyone can take a clone only strain and cross it with a BrotherGrimm strain (Spacequeen) and call it a new strain, but by not stabilizing it most of his strains have that SpaceQueen pheno, just buy Spacequeen and do your own crosses and voila you're like Sub. Spacequeen is his only stable strain "he always knows what he will get", his words not mine.

I was at a TGA event and listened to Sub talk for 3 days, honestly I only wanted to learn about his Tincture and Super Soil, by the end of the 3 days my view of him had gone from "I'm super stoked to be listening to the TGA seeds dude" to "This guy is just another grower with an awesome team around him" The TGA crew has some really cool dudes that know their shit, but Sub man is just overrated.

omg, you have no idea how much i like this post... lol.. really hit it on the head..

the thing i'm always reading about sub's gear is that you pop a ten pack of beans, and you end up with 4 or 5 different pheno's.. that's craziness imo.. take plushberry for ex... i follow a lot of people who love sub, and listen to what they all say about his gear.. oh, the pink pheno is good, no, the green one is good, no, the purple is the best.. holy shit batman, how many pheno's do you have?? lol..

and i agree that sub is much like arjan in that he's a good business man.. he knows how to market himself and his company.. does that mean he's a great breeder??
and i think a lot of people on this forum love sub and tga as he's pretty much the only breeder who comes onto this site, so a lot of members get kind of star struck and therefore are all over his jock. idk, just my $.02.. i'm not hating, just telling it like i see it...

Hmmm...I like the idea that I can buy a seed from someone I have chatted with on a forum, and should that seed give me issue I can again chat with same forum member...that is enough for me...and as for stable genetics I see a lot of people growing his different strains and they all look a little different...so it can't be too bad huh? I just planted 5 Jillybeans...I will be getting all of the TGA Strains I can if I like the Jilly. I want to try Qrazy Train next...
Also having bred 2 nice plants at random I can tell you that some strains just come through...DNA Genetics Rocklock is one of those...even when you breed it with something else, all the plants come out just looking and growing like the Rocklock...LA Confidential seems to give it a nice blue hue, but it smells looks and grows just the same as the original Rocklock...but you can plant 5 seeds and get 5 exact same plants, but they are first generation cross seeds...so I was expecting some variation, but there is none...now I need to breed 2 of these Rocklock X LA seeds together and see how much variation I get then...probably more...since as far as I can tell the first generation is both plants rolled into one, and the second, 3rd, and 4th generations are where you start having to pheno hunt...
but however many times I pollinate straight Rocklock with LA all the seeds from that cross are the same everytime..so while they aren't "stable" there is no variation...till you cross those seeds together...and that is the test isn't....

If you take 2 Jillybeans and cross them you should get just plain old JIllybean seeds, but often strains aren't stabilized enough before we buy them, so when you use your reg beans to make more reg seeds you sometimes end up with different plants than your first set of seeds gave you. Even though all bred plants were the same strain...
And since I just started my Jilly beans yesterday I will soon be able to make my own jilly seeds and see how stable it is..if these 5 look the same that is good, but doesn't mean a whole lot...but if the next batch of seeds grow plants just like the first seeds did, then I know that Jilly bean is stable..
Some crossed strains are very similar to start with, and that also lessens variation...

I bought a 5 pack of qrazytrain from the attitude in feb and only got 2 of them to pop! Sent an email to sub @ his tga genitics store site and the tude about it with no reply from either of them! Not so sure about the good business man statement! I thought the customer was always right? 55$ for 5 beans and 2 sprout? that's 27.50 a seed! Oh well, first time growing subs gear! I've been using the same technique to germ for many years! Soak beans over night in water, paper towel inside ziplock on a seed sprouting mat! I think its screwed up to ignore a customer over a 5 pack of beans.. I've been growing for 30 years.. I got karmas white og free 5 pack and the seeds were almost white, didnt think they would even pop but 3 out of 5 did! really dissapointed in being ignored over 5 damn seeds! I bought alot of his gear,I hope this is the only bad pack i got! I was hoping to atleast get a responce to my email and maybe a replacement pack.. Guess hes to busy to reply to an email?

That's shitty service by both 'Tude and more TGA, LAME!!! Good business man, there is lots of hype, no? Poor customer treatment. Thing is there are so many growers in the hills of NorCal and around the USA in small towns and big towns, legal and illegal that have more experience than Sub and certainly more than me, but they remain underground and grow other gear for certain. Hell I know people still growing the Sensi Star and AK cut we had in 2000

Yes, if I didn't have a background of 11 years, if I only used this forum and the web for my info, I would be all over TGA, to be honest I bought 3 packs of his beans the day I became legal because they were selling them there and I didn't know how EASY it would be to get clones legally. Of course now I've done my 'Tude order (i'm not yet as addicted to buying seeds as you geez man slow down but do have 8 packs of beans). What sucks is all those who buy the hype and want to "try all the TGA stains I can". I've seen people hang on his every post, you're right "star stuck"

I am a fan of the Supersoil, I have heard it is sorta Hit-N-Miss with TGA genetics, one side swears by the gear, & the other had bad experiences.

Maybe TGA gear is not as tried/true/tested as others. Some people say TGA hermies more than others, some say it is grower error..which may very well be.

I have not grown any TGA gear yet so My Guess is, Maybe subcools garden is much nicer than others who grow his gear, meaning Sub may be used to having great results w/ his genetics due to a pristine environment? & Maybe when his gear ends up in a mediocre garden it struggles/Hermies?

Then again, TGA is grown from Tiny to Large ops, some love it, some have mixed feelings still.

***I will be getting some TGA gear, Vortex, JTR, & Qleaner 2 are on my Things To Do List::*** & if my beans do not pop, turn mostly male, or hermie. I will blame myself before I ever tried blame Sub.

I actually think there are a lot of compliments in there as well.
I am pretty damn sure sub himself says that he was just a grower or an online grower even. Then he started breeding. And you think he is surrounded by "an awesome team". What in the fuck is wrong with that? lol.
I think he knows a fuck ton about growing. On most topics I can trust what he says AND then try to find out more. That is the way most feel, that isn't being star struck or sucking his dick. People on here have access to him and his advice is good. That doesn't mean he is a God. His strains are a good starting point also.
If the TGA crew has some really cool dudes that know their shit, and Sub is another grower, an awesome marketer, and a businessman then they are going to be around for a long fucking time making a lot more fucking spacequeen crosses. lol.
If you go through his countless threads he has helped countless newbs harvest better buds. Yes or NO? How many growers would you guess Subcool has helped online in 20 years? That gets my respect. a

Don't have a lot to add, but so far my experience with TGA has been positive. Currently on my first grow with their genetics, I popped 4 plush berries. All four sprouted no prob, 3/4 were females. All 3 fems were cloned and rooted easily. Currently on day 16 of 12/12 so a ways to go. Have what appears to be 2 phenos, 2 are identical..very tall, the other is a short bush.

Plenty of time for things to go south, but so far so good. Have some space dawg seeds chilling, and plenty more TGA genetics that sound awesome I'd love to grab. Gonna wait to see how these plushes play out first.
