My guess is a deficiency. The pattern of the holes and discolored leaf tissue are the signs. Did you fertilize at all recently? Did you change the light configuration at all recently?

cheers for the reply .im running nft , at a constant e.c 1.80 and p.h 5.8 so that hasnt changed, i moved my light further away because i thought it might be some sort of burn . The problem is that it has been spreading across my plants , although most of my leaves are fine. I was going to use some tpye of pesticide today anyway just in case, do you think this is a good idea? Also im at week 5 of veg so can i use an inorganic type without createing more damage?

I am a novice but my friend it appears you have the on set of spider mites. won't be any webs, I think, till you are infested. I think you should use a miticide or an organic alternative. And, the only reason I suspect spider mites is where your damage is. It seems to run along the leaf vein. I'm positive thats a sure sign.
