Is she ready??

Hey all,

Snow White here, little over 9 weeks since 12/12. Most of the fan leaves have yellowed and some I have pulled off as they were dead or curled etc. PC grow so I am looking at about 1/2 oz/ dried I estimate.

I gave my buddy one of my smaller buds and dried it was 1/2 eighth. I have seven and one main cola so I should be at least 1/2 I am thinking or close.....

Hairs have started to receed and I know I am either there or damn close.....

The main cola is about 1/3 inch shorter as I ran into the heat shield and the top got all dried so I just hacked it off and smoked it. Got high as hell and that was 2 weeks ago!

Opinions/thoughts????

Looks really tastey dude. What percentage of your hairs are amber? Also, has she suddenly just gotten really fat?

I have been using nothing but h20 and Molasses now for 2+ weeks every grow and she has fattened up in the last week a bit. I have a 30x that I will check out the trichs tomorrow but almost all hairs are now brown and have started receeding into the bud.

Ready/not ready??

Ok. tomorrow is axe time then. Of course I will quick dry a small sample and let you know how she smokes

So when I trim, cut off all those dead or yellow leaves right to the bud right? So she looks all pretty? She is so sticky it is insane...smells likesweet lemon skunk mixed with herbal mint mixed in.....

i'd like to take that slut on a date man, she's lookin good

1)Yes do what is called a pre trimm and trim all the fan leaves sticking out
2)...then hang upside down for 5-9 days pending humidity and temps. i say prob 7 for that fatty.. but it will be crisp to the squeez and the stem will snap
3)With only 1 cola a box cure is out..so at this time breake the bud off the main stalk to no bigger than 2.5 inches. break it down ..trim the rest of the little leaves and place the buds in a plastis bag roll slightly tight, then loosly wrap in a blanket for 2 hrs.
4)open up bag and buds should have regained the iner moistor, open the bag till it drys fully then you can bag for starage..takes some practice...check your stash often toss buds as needed. this method will get you tight buds long lasting flavor and sent.

give it 7 more days of str8 water. more leaves will go yellow, and the calyxes should swell more if they can. one more week!

The big fan leaves with no trichs, you can yank those off by hand and save yourself the headache trying to trim with scissors. Just grab and yank. You'll find a good pattern for that.

The leaves that are really dried and crunchy might still be fans but have stems deep into the bud. Peel back the nug and clip close to the stem.

As far as those really cristally leaves poking out. There are kind of two ways. Some yank off and cut off all the fans and then with scissors cut the crystaly leaves flush to the nugs. Tons of people do this. Some clip off the big ones at the stem and then the little ones they cut flush.

Basically focus on the removing the big fans. Don't save those to smoke there is not thc in those. Just dirt and dust.

The ones you save for hash or cooking is the crystally ones.

When you dry, the stem will still be sort of moist but the nugs will feel dry. After a day or two in a jar the nugs bounce back and feel a tad moist again. If really moist you may want to leave the jar open so they dry out more. It's a fine balance but you'll figure it out.

too many people harvest there buds too early man..... good rule of thumb... IF IT LOOKS DONE, WAIT A WEEK!!!

So what is your thought? Do I really need one more week honestly? Will anything change in that time? You have a ton of experience I can see so would like to know your thoughts...

to the human eye no nothing too visable will happen. except the leaves dieing more. but trichone wise a lot can happen in one week. what do your tricones look like now? i think 20-50% amber is best in most strains

also another week of flush wont hurt.

you wana know the truth

A bud is like a fruit, there is a time when it is underripe and tart, perfect and sweet, over ripe and mushy but sometimes sweeter.

some like sweet fruit some like tart

with that said it is a personal choice up to a point. Now in general if one is growing sativa the tart side of the spectrum is there taste, so they would tend to pick it early to right on time, and not let it go over much. On the other hand one growing a very sedative indica may let it go just before "LARFING" to allow the conversion of the canibinoids

there is to soon.... before the cylack sacks fill...the buds will shrivel to little or no yield

there is to late...when the cylax sacks start separating from the main bud"larfing"..buds will be airy flaky and the larf will crumble into shake and yield dramatically lost..

There is about 1 to 2 week period only where the entire 3 stages take place..but anyware in that time is nothing but personal preference.

Well after I checked with a 40x. To the best of eyes, about 30-40 % on average were dark amber and rest were cloudy, so she got the axe.

So for my first grow, in a pc, minus one bud I gave to my buddy...here is what is hanging now with a lighter for reference. I expect near 1/2 0z or so (including what I gave to my bud). Not bad for a light smoker. I will get close up shots after they dry a bit. I did an o.k trim job I think. I have some more pruning but will see what she looks like dry. Not a terrible job anyway.......There is two more buds not seen in the pic and that one on the base (ran out of room).

Here is my pc now turned into a dry chamber......
