not a sell out... it is just time for the far right, the right and the middle to come together. regardless of each others views.
if they really want to win the presidency. if not, then remain divided.

Romney isn't worth uniting for in my opinion. I understand the reasoning, but I don't think its worth giving up our principles to vote for another Statist.

[h=2]WaPo: Ron Paul Signed Off On Newsletters[/h][h=4]Jim Burroway[/h][h=5]January 28th, 2012[/h]
As we have said many times before, it is inconceivable that Texas Rep. Ron Paul, who is waging a libertarian campaign for the GOP presidential nomination, could not have known about the many scores of newsletters that went out under his name for the better part of the decade containing virulently homophobic, racist, anti-Semitic, rants embedded with some of the most incredibly imaginative conspiracy theories which would gave Art Bell a run for his secretly-stashed bullion. Paul has tried to distance himself from those newsletters, claiming that only “eight or ten sentences” were offensive (I’m still waiting to see how he narrows the tranche down to “eight to ten sentences”) and besides, he didn’t pay any attention to what he sold — and sold at a very handsome profit — under his own name. But squaring the incredibly neanderthalic views expressed in the newsletters with his votes in Congress (he voted to repeal DADT, for example) and his positions in the GOP debates has represented one of the greater mysteries in politics. Today, the Washington Post reveals that there’s no mystery to it whatsoever. In fact, the explanation couldn’t be simpler: it all comes down to the root of all evils, the love of money. According to the Post, Paul was a “sharp-eyed businessman” whose company, Ron Paul & Associates, published the newsletters, with Paul himself signing off on articles and speaking to his staff on a daily basis:
It was his newsletter, and it was under his name, so he always got to see the final product… He would proof it,” said Renae Hathway, a former secretary in Paul’s company and a supporter of the Texas congressman…A person involved in Paul’s businesses, who spoke on condition of anonymity to avoid criticizing a former employer, said Paul and his associates decided in the late 1980s to try to increase sales by making the newsletters more provocative. They discussed adding controversial material, including racial statements, to help the business, the person said.“It was playing on a growing racial tension, economic tension, fear of government,’’ said the person, who supports Paul’s economic policies but is not backing him for president. “I’m not saying Ron believed this stuff. It was good copy. Ron Paul is a shrewd businessman.’’
Ed Crane, longtime president of the Cato Institute, met with Paul during this time and they both concurred that “people with extreme views” were more likely to respond to sales pitches. Paul told Crane that he got his best response from ads taken out in the anti-Semitic and racist newspaper Spotlight. That led to a calculated strategy that proved to be a gold mine for Paul. In 1984, Paul was in debt to the tune of $765,000. By 1995 toward the end of his run of newsletters, his net worth was $3.3 million. It’s the oldest trick in the book: incitement for influence, demagoguery for dinero, provocation for power. It’s worked for everyone from Coughlin to Goebbels to McCarthy to the Family “Research” Council. How’s that for integrity?

[h=2]Hey, Ron Paul, now I’m starting to think you want to kill me[/h][h=4]Timothy Kincaid[/h][h=5]January 17th, 2012[/h]
You would think that after touting the endorsement of one Christian reconstructionist who favors executing gays – and being called on it – you’d be careful before you starting talking about another. Unless, I guess, you agree with them. But today there’s another preacher, Voddie Baucham, Pastor at Grace Family Baptist Church, who is one the front page of Ron Paul’s website singing Ron’s praises:
While I am not looking for a “Pastor-in-Chief,” it is important to me that the man for whom I cast my vote be a Christian, if at all possible… I also want to know that the foundational ideology motivating a man’s decisions is biblical. I know it will not always mirror my own, but I trust God’s word, and appreciate those who look to it for aid in making decisions. To that end, I support Dr. Paul because he is not just a conservative, but a Christian Conservative.
Unlike, I guess, the Mormon and the Catholic options. Now some of what Baucham says makes sense. He, like me, has no desire to elect a Pastor in Chief. And he notes that when you send a guy to change the moral standards to be to your liking, then the next guy is free to change them tohis liking and “How’s that workin’ for ya’?”But what isn’t mentioned is Baucham’s other writings, like – for example – this response to President Obama’s 2009 statement of support for LGBT Pride Monththat Dr. Warren Throckmorton found:
As I have noted elsewhere, President Obama is committed to a radical pro-homosexual agenda. Since day one of his administration, he has made no secret of his intent to move the ball forward on the full acceptance of homosexuality and the criminalization of all disapproval thereof. Just this week he appointed the founder of GLSEN to a post in the Department of Education. Then, in another brazen act, the Obama administration took another bold step forward as he declared June LGBT Pride Month. In a statement on the White House website he wrote:
LGBT Americans have made, and continue to make, great and lasting contributions that continue to strengthen the fabric of American society. There are many well-respected LGBT leaders in all professional fields, including the arts and business communities. LGBT Americans also mobilized the Nation to respond to the domestic HIV/AIDS epidemic and have played a vital role in broadening this country’s response to the HIV pandemic.
Hence, sodomites, who who are in large part responsible for the introduction and spread of the HIV/AIDS epidemic are praised for responding to this plague in an attempt to avoid annihilation (by the way, I know you don’t have to engage in sodomy to get HIV, but that doesn’t change the facts… see the book, And the Band Played On for an honest look at this issue). This is revisionism at its worst. The President goes on to celebrate the fact that this abomination (Lev 18:22) worthy of the death penalty (Lev 20:13) is now being celebrated in the open. He writes, “Due in no small part to the determination and dedication of the LGBT rights movement, more LGBT Americans are living their lives openly today than ever before.” This is a clear sign of the devolution of culture. As Paul writes in Romans, “Though they know God’s decree that those who practice such things deserve to die, they not only do them but give approval to those who practice them.” (Rom 1:32 ESV)
So what’s going on here, Ron Paul? Why is it that you keep talking up the endorsements you get from people who want to execute me?Once is an error. Twice… well, twice means that you need to start explaining in terms that leave no doubt.

Some Secret Truths About Ron Paul That Very Few Know

"I would like to tell some things Dr. Paul will be remembered for, back home in his district. See, he does so much in stealth, its hard to keep up with the man and just what exactly fills his day when he comes home for a long weekend and stays for a few extra days or a week to catch up on things.

He does spend time here, recently it has not been as often, but during the hay days he would fly in on Fri and sometimes stay at his office in his district to work.

But that's not all he did when he was here supposedly working!

Several times a year Ron would get up very early in the morning and go get his youngest Grandaughter. He would pick her up and together they would drive 4-5 hours in heavy Houston traffic, through his huge district- all the way up to Houston Intercontinental Airport.
Paul lived appx 1.5-2 hrs hours south of Houston and Bush(duhbya) Intercontinental Airport is 2 hours N of Houston.

Anyways, together they would drive all this way up to the airport.
They were on their way to greet an American hero who was coming home that day, and Ron wanted to meet him at the gate, simply to give him the medals he had earned in battle—at the gate—right in front of his family when he stepped off the plane.

Another thing I so vividly remember is that Dr. Paul could NEVER bring himself to ask his constituents for money to run his campaigns to win. NEVER once did he say, "Help me with my campaign" or "Can you donate". Not even ONCE!

He has been over heard saying "the government takes so much from them all ready, how can I ask for more?" His staffers and campaign people begged him, but he would not ask.

Anyways, we all know Ron! He has his ways!!!

Once or sometimes twice a year he would send out a big mailer in a larger style envelope. In it we would find certain important bills he has written. Votes he has cast, and reasons why he voted the way he did. He would give us some scoops on whats coming up, etc etc.
Lovey would put some of her delicious recipe finds~ like a good Gumbo or Crab Stuffed flounder recipe she had run across...

Maybe Ron would include a photo of a new addition to the family (black and white photo of course) and that would be it! Not one single mention of money in the entire envelope. Then, if one looked deeper inside the big envelope, tucked away, we would find a much much smaller envelope. No bigger then a folded check! The only thing written, where the stamp would go was "your stamp saves this campaign much needed funds", and thats it! He couldnt even ASK US FOR MONEY! He doesnt hang around at events looking for it afterwards, hes gone in a flash!

I guess he supposes we should know what to do if we want him as our Representative, and we certainly did know what to do and he certainly used an ultra conservative budget to run every single campaign on a shoe string budget. Thus- exposing himself for the conservative he is, while the others spend a FORTUNE to upend him at every turn.
The strories he could tell...

Just ask Duhbya, Rove, Harris and the Galveston County GOP just what spankings theyve received from Dr. Paul, theyll tell you. Newt had the entire delegation go against Paul one year by having ALL TEXAS CONGRESSMEN and WOMEN endorse Rons opponent. Well, Ron went on to win that election by winning MORE of the VOTE spending LESS money then the election year before! Just like one would expect of our true conservative.

At one point in his career, it was said he delivered half his own votes BY HAND! That was a running joke for the longest. He was surely loved and some could not understand him or his reasoning, but they trusted him. Many said to him "we trust you with our children's futures and our checkbooks" and his response was always the same. "One should never trust government, nor should one be expected to do so."

So there ya have it.

His retirement has removed a good feeling from our district. He knows the wolves are circling the camp and want in. Boy oh boy do they want in.

but we know the great sadness that NO one will fill his shoes, but we will be forever grateful for the service and devotion his entire family has given us. One thing I will say, Ron Paul gave us our moneys worth. Thats for sure! He was worth every dime we sent.

What an education he handed us. Never charging and always respectful. We love him and we will miss him dearly."

[h=2]More of Ron Paul’s “Bad Stuff” Revealed[/h][h=4]Jim Burroway[/h][h=5]January 17th, 2012[/h]
A few weeks ago, GOP presidential candidate Rep. Ron Paul sought to defend himself in the controversy over the newsletters which he promoted and published under his name for nearly a decade. In his latest defense, he said that he only acted as publisher of the newsletters, and said that there were only “a total of about eight or ten sentences” of “bad stuff.”The New Republic, which released the original newsletters, has responded to that last statement by releasing several dozen more — far more than the “eight or ten sentences” of “bad stuff.” The latest dumpcovers much of the same ground as before: blatant racism, anti-Semitism, homophobia, praise for tax evaders, defense of anti-government militias, and whacked-out conspiracy theories. Under the anti-gay/AIDS-hysteria banner, TNR released the following (all links PDFs):
  • A Survival Report (no date given) which calls the Americans With Disabilities Act a “totalitarian law” because “dentists can no longer refuse to work on the bloody mouths of AIDS carriers.”
  • A March 1987 Investment Letter which cites a mysterious “Dr. Arnold” to claim that “AIDS can be transmitted through means other than sexual intercourse and blood transfusion, specifically saliva, tears, sweat, feces and urine.”
  • A November 1987 Political Report saying “we must also allow local school boards to ban AIDS carriers from the public schools.”
  • A March 1988 Political Report suggesting that AIDS was being transmitted through the mails.
  • A March 1990 Political Reportclaiming that AIDs could be spread “through sneezes, breath, etc. through the air.”
  • A December 1991 Political Report saying, “[Magic] Johnson may be a sports star, but he is dying because he violated moral laws.”
  • A January 1993 Survival Report saying, “Homosexuals, if admitted (in the military), should be put in a special category and not allowed in close physical contact with heterosexuals.”
  • A June 1993 Survival Report, on claims that Texas cult leader David Koresh molested a young girl, responding, “How dare the Clinton administration talk about sexual deviance? Its officials could have had their own float in the Gay, Lesbian, and Bisexual Parade.”
  • A November 1993 Survival Report referring to people with AIDS, saying “the criminal ‘Justice’ Department wants to force dentists to treat these Darth Vader types under the vicious Americans With Disabilities Act.” In a echo of Ron Paul’s more recently-stated libertarian opposition to the 1964 Civil Rights Act, the newsletter goes on: “We all have the right to discriminate, which is what freedom of association is all about, especially against killers.”
  • A March 1994 Survival Report saying “the purpose of ‘AIDS education’” is “to keep the truth about AIDS from getting out. And this goes way back. Scientists originally named it GRIDS – Gay Related Immune Deficiency Syndrome – until the homosexual lobby succeeded in getting the origins of this disease disguised.”
That, combined with previous releases, is way, way more than the “eight or ten sentences” of “bad stuff — just counting the anti-gay/AIDS-hysteria pieces alone. And the AIDS-hysteria pieces are especially troubling given that Paul is a medical doctor. Surely, he knew better, didn’t he?We still have no explanation from him about how these newsletters came to be and why he promoted them so strongly under his name, evengoing so far as to give the impression that he wrote them when he was selling them. Maybe he really was just a “publisher.” Maybe he really didn’t write this stuff. But the fact that he allowed it to go out for eight years under his name, I believe, disqualifies him for any serious public office. If he’s willing to show such an appalling carelessness with his own good name, how can we be assured he would be any better with America’s?

Phil Kayser's endorsement on Ron Paul's campaign website earlier today (above). That same page now (below) (Click to enlarge)
The press release from Ron Paul’s presidential campaign bragging about Christian Reconstrucitonist pastor Phil Kayser’s endorsement is gone. Poof! Just like that. The Google Cache version is here. And for archival purposes, we’re keeping a copy of that announcement below. I wonder if the Paul Campaign is going to issue a statement, or if they’re going to try to sweep it under the rug just like they did with the newsletters? Anyone taking any bets?Click here to see the original endorsement announcement
