10 more cfls for 1 plant seems kinda strange
Depends on your wattage for each light. But if your using 10 23 watt bulbs, it's not strange at all. My last plant only had 5 bulbs, and I wish I would have had more wattage/bulbs. Never got to smoke her either, cops took her like 3 weeks before harvest.

I am by no means an expert but I was under the understanding that when growing with cfls you don't go by the wattage of the bulb at all. You go by the lumens of the bulb. And that 1 plant needs a minimum of 5000 lumens in veg, and 10000 in flower. 23 watt cfls produce 1600 lumens give or take, so 3 or 4 bulbs in my opinion would be just fine for veg, but would want to double that when your plant goes into flower. Don't get me wrong, the more light you have, the happier your plants will be.

hey rollitup, this is my first thread! and i need to know if my plant is healthy. i have only one cfl thats 23 watt. just average potting soil. tap water.
Ive got a AK47 plant in the same stage as yours...I currently have 6 cfls on it right now and is growing FAST!!!! If I were you I would get more CFLS and move them much closer to the plant(2-3 inches)without touching them....you dont want it to start stretching...Just my 2cents worth,PEACE AND HAPPY GROWING

YEah I dont think anyone can see that one little plant with that one little bulb. You need more lights for sure, at least 4-5.

...relax grasshopper, that's just your paranoia and will ease up in a year or two, lol.

btw, a single 23watt light is fine for a single seedling so young as yours is but in just a few weeks you WILL want to up the ante, ...heres a couple pictures of something you can put together for very small money that will work quite nicely.

...these pics are from my first year and a half of growing, before i'd moved up to HPS but at that time i was running 4x 7gallon DWCs each with it's own CFL fixture loaded with 8 bulbs, mostly 23watters and 26s for approx. 200watts per fixture and i pulled 1 DWC every 2 weeks and i averaged 1/4 elbow per bin, ...CFLs will work, you just can't grow tall plants because they aren't intense enough to penetrate the canopy.

peace, bozo

actually, i see that the first pic was after i'd switched from DWC to organic soil, the last shot on the right you can see a couple of the bins, with the red handles.
