Is my light too close?

I have 3 1 week old babys under a 125 watt cfl. they dry up 1-2 hours after i have watered them. is this normal? they are in rockwool cubes.

your are going to have to watch them, the fans blowing across them can dry them out too. maybe 2-4" above them with the cfl depending how hot it gets.. do you have a thermometer you can put next to your babies to see how hot they are getting? raise the light if you have to and see if they dry out in 1-2 hours, if they still dry out it could be the fan, if the fan is blowing on the cubes, that will dry them out too.

the temps are usually around 75-80 F. i do have a fan blowing but its not blowing directly on them. and my light is currently about 2-3" above them. i guess i will try to raise the light if this keeps up but i am trying to avoid stretching.

try 4" off the tops.i have the same problem started watering every other day. they are doing beter with the light 4" off backto every 3 day watering.

If having a fan on your plants can dry them out, and youre susposed to give them atleast some fantime, how do you go about resolving this issue? Dosent a fan help strengthen stems which is neccesary with out wind?

what TYPE of cfl's are you using?

4 inches should be plenty of distance no matter what type of cfl, unless its 100w or higher. I say its because of the rockwool. Try setting the cubes in a tray filled with 1/2 inch of water, its called passive hydroponics. They should just wick up the moisture, and you shouldn't have to worry about them drying out.

fans in general aren't the problem unless you are living in a rather low humidity area

get an oscillating fan, for clones water every 4-5 days until the plants shows a rich green color and and then you'll probably need to water every 1-3 days, depending on light strength/container size/plant growth rate

i have a 125 watt sun blaster cfl. it says 27000k idk what that is maybe the temp? i dont think its the lumens, i think the lumens is 6500k but what i did was, i orginally had the rockwool cubes on top of my hydrosystem but now i planted them in the hydroton and put the water on an inch of the netpots. so its not touching the rockwool but its touching the hydroton and im not sure if this is going to work but we will see in time.

ok i did a little research on my light and i just found out my light is a 125 watt sun blaster 27000kelvin. is this good for flowering or vegging? i need a flower light and i dont have enough space to get a hps. and the temp + vent will be a problem so if anything i will have to get another cfl. some advice please!!! thank you!

That is actually a perfect option for flowering, 2700k is the perfect color temp, and that is a nice high wattage floro. Looks like you got lucky by choosing the right bulb on accident hahaha.

2700k for flowering and 6500k daylight for veg.

no guys i said 27000k thats three zeros. thats what it says on the bulb thats why im confused.. any help? or is that the same as 2700k?

edit : just took a look at the bulb, its 25000K

hmm.. 25000k? ive only seen that # on car lights. HID lighting to be exact. do you have pics of the light?

any help??? should i return the light? or should i use it for veg? any ideas? i think its a blue spectrum light, atleast thats what it says on the website.

hmmm.. if its a daylight then use it. make sure its daylight.
