I have some Ladies who are about 4 feet tall and verrrrrry bushy They were started Indoors in febuary. They plants are outdoors now and just starting to bud they are in 5 gallon buckets. My main concern is that I will limit my harvest with plants that big in a 5 gal bucket. I did have plants one year that grew almost 3 feet tall in beer pong cups Basically i need some expert advice, if i should cut out the bottom of the bucket and let the roots continue down or if they will be fine In the buckets they are in. Theyr in miracle grow and loving it. Let me Know. :bigjoint:

well if the roots have more room they will grow further and ultimately increase the size of your plant as well! so its up to you if you wanna upgrade pot sizes!

Not so much worry on the size, do not mix the soil with ur outdoor soil, you can and will mostl ikely contaminate and or infest your plants with pests,etc.... 5 gallons has done some major harvests outdoors. I myself put two per 10 gal outdoors, they get about 7 ft and I NEVER had any root restraint. really it comes down to personal preference there.

well im confused a bit u was indoors and went outdoors to budding in june ...mine are in vegg outdoors at da moment but i had my 10 indoors around febuary too....im sure it differs in different areas of the world...well i used to think bigger pots is better but the sun can burn your roots hitting the pot all day well ive went indoor and outdoor tons of times and well its a pain moving that bigg ass pot around well i got mad dugg a hole in the ground a big hole and put all the dirt mix and the plant in the gruond and it grew fast it was huge...plus gallon buckets make it obviouse urr growing ...and if your outdoors white buckets are badd and people can carry your buckets...but im about to put my 10 back indoors and start budding when room is done i got some old pics on album when they was indoor ..but ill be posting soon cant wait ...

I started them Indoors around Febuary..when there was still snow on the ground i kept them in vegatative growth for about 3 months and put them outdoors in May. So basically my plan was to give them a couple more months of veg and put them outdoors to let nature run the flower stage. As for the 5 gallon buckets I buried them in the ground so the big white bucket wasnt sticking out like a sore thumb. The only reason I dont keep them inside is cause i use subpar Fluro's that are'nt up to scratch for budding. However they work nicely for veggin. Ill have an Indoor set up at somepoint in my life but the money has to be there to do it properly.

One other quick question about trimming. Up til now i havent been trimming many leaves.(just to get some light to lower preflowers) and the plants are very bushy lots of leaves I guess my question is it true when you trim leaves the plant will focus more energy on the buds. Or will it force the plant to recover therefore wasting energy. I may just have to experiment since its hard to find the answer without having 7 people all saying different things. Thanks for the help

I guess it can depend on where you grow outdoors as to how much you got to worry about someone coming across them. I have no worries there. one thing iam sure of is not mixing soils from outdoor and indoor. if the plant is already in a indoor medium, it will stress the plant when its roots transfer to a different medium, causing you some issues!! best advice i can give is mix the outdoor soil with some of what you used indoors , then there is less likely to be stress.

i tied the branches down instead of trimming because mine was real bushy and had great results those small little buds that were down at bottom of braches ended up growing from half inch to like 5 inces all the buds were bigger tieing is a great way that dont slow your process ...the main cola was bigger than a shoe box ..but i read the fan leafs store or regulate nutrients u need so keep them i heard u can use a paper clip method and tie fan leave to stem to get out of your way so light reaches alot ...http://www.420magazine.com/forums/how-grow-marijuana/81264-how-grow-marijuana-everything-you-need-know.html ......i found alot of good info that will help u make the right choice for your plants...we all make mistakes especially me ....ill be posting soon as indoor and electrician are stalling me from moveing
