This is my 1st indoor grow in a tent and I'm just wondering if my light is close enough to my seedlings... this is day 1 under 400w MH thinking of adding another light... carbon filter keeps fresh air and inline fans keep it pretty cool in the low 80s mid 70s.. what you think?

Read up on vertical grows, getting it right can sometimes be challenging, I just said that as an alternative to spending money on a hood if you're broke like me, a reflector is really your best option. As far as distance just don't get any closer than 15 inches or a foot, just monitor your temps near the top of the plant and if it's too hot move it a little further or tweak your ventilation methods

Uadmittedly ertGrow89, post: 11966939, member: 910825"]Put your hand under the light, if that's uncomfortable, it's probably uncomfortable for your plants too. Generally 18 in - 4 feet from your plant tops.
I admittedly am kind of new to USING HIDs but I've been around them and have researched the hell out of them, 4 ft is for the big ass lights with no cooling going on.

4 feet?? Imh thats too high. U will get a lot of stretch!! try 18 inch- to 24 inch. Try the hand method like others sed. It works. Toke on ====~~
Well as close as possible without stressing the plant is ideal. Light intensity diminishes rapidly as the bulb moves away from canopy. To elaborate, plants that are two feet away absorb only 1/4 of the light that a plant one foot away would absorb. If you are running 1000 watts, 18-24 inches may cook your plants. :fire:
