Is it worth it to get a second 400 watt hps??

So I found a 400 watt hps on cl for $70. I have a 10 sq foot closet, and was wondering if it is worth it to buy this 2nd one? will it improve my yields and growth rate by a lot? Also, will 2 400 watt hps be able to be viewed by infared, as I don't live in the nicest of areas?? Thanks!:!::!:

I would not get another light- too much footprint- I would not grow anymore then 6 plants 3 ft tall in that area.

two are better than one i guess, if heat/height restrictions are not a problem. using a single 600w (plenty for a 10 sq foot closet) might be an easier option to more light though, which should improve yield :) No clue about infrared detection, but you can insulate your room or something hide to it.

for your room;

Minimum Lighting 25 watts Per Square FootLighting
The minimum recommended lighting for your area is 625 watts
Ventilation
The minimum flow rating of your fan should be 125.0 Cubic Feet per Minute (CFM)
Power Requirements
This setup will require 6.8 amps to be available at all times for safest operation*

Optimum Lighting 40 watts Per Square Foot
Lighting
The optimum reccomended lighting for your area is 1000 watts
Ventilation
For optimum ventilation the flow rating of your fan should be around 137.5 Cubic Feet per Minute
Power Requirements
This setup will require 10.8 amps to be available at all times for safest operation*
Maximum Lighting 60 watts Per Square Foot
Lighting
The maximum reccomended lighting for your area is 1500 watts
Ventilation
Going this way you will require a fan with a flow rating of at least 162.5 Cubic Feet per Minute
Power Requirements
This setup will require 16.3 amps to be available at all times for safest operation*
Additional Comments
Getting to these points and or over it is highly reccomended the grower use Co2 in their room as your plants will only be able to photosythesise a certain amount of light before needing a Co2 boost to benifit

I agree but likely for a different reason.
You have enough room and light to support more but not well.. so i second his advice if your taking polls.

not correct. 600w isn't even minimum recommeded light for that space.. not "Plenty"

YES!!! More lumens = More Bud

Lumens don't add. more light (to a point) is always a good thing though. so I say get the extra light too.

Get the light :D

No idea on the infra red...sorry.

Where you find the light? $70 is great price for it.

its a used light on craigslist without a bulb. I read that 3000 lumens is the min. that i need per square foot, which I have, I know more is better, but I'm debating if i should get a hps or some cfls.. Do you know where I can buy some cheap cfls? Thanks! oh btw i only have like 7 plants so its not like I have a huge opperation.

just be wary of heat.
i got another light for my room without thinking about heat and then next thing i knew, my temps were 95 degrees.

ya I am concerned about heat as my first light is already putting off a ton.. Thats why I was considering cfls but I dont want to spend the same ammount of $ on cfls as I would on a hps so I'm kinda confused on what to do...:wall:
