is it really that bad?

I could CARE LESS what I do for a job for the rest of my life as long as it allows me to take care of myself and my family. As well as vacation once or twice a year, grow bud for personal consumption, and afford to go to the 10-15 concerts a year as I currently do.
But thats it, thats all I want. I was never going to find the cure to Cancer or something of equal greatness, regardless of my education level. Not that I dont have "potential" as "grown ups" have told me since I was a child, but thats not who I am.
And whats so wrong with that? Why is it bad to work a pointless job, if it makes you happy and allows you to care for yourself? Why is it wrong that I don't desire to go back to school to get my degree? I don't believe that simply because you have your degree it makes you a better person. You may be a more educated person but I don't feel that makes you better.

I am EXCELLENT at lots of things, unfortunately none of which generate income....well not legally :bigjoint:

So really no point in this, just venting some shit...tired of listening to family ext. and their hollier than thou bs

There is no such thing as a pointless job, any job is a learning opportunity for the next step, but start worrying when you stop walking to a destination.

I think my main reason to wanting to achieve well, and be educated is so that when I turn 50-60 I can retire comfortably and do sweet fuck all for the rest of my years, that is my main concern, and to earn enough to be happy, and have the stupid material things that I want. Like a massive Tv, some sought of video game console, a sweet bed, and a sweet couch, and enough space and money to grow bud.

I dunno, so much shit comes in to that equation, it's a hard one, especially with family influence and your own personal family if and when you have one.
But I agree with you, do what ever you want in life, as long as you can self sustain, and are happy!

Peace

BTW, it's couldn't care less. Sorry, I just hate when people say the exact opposite of what they mean. That's usually the poster boy example.

I am the exact opposite though. I wouldn't go into a career I wasn't absolutely passionate for. A side job is a different story completely, however.

even getting a degree these days doesnt mean your going to get a better job.
as you say it may make you a better educated person.
but the ultimate degree these days is life and experience.
my job isnt excactly exciting. i work with some good guys and have a laugh, and while im enjoying their company it's the job for me.
i have nice thing but wouldnt want to be rich beyond wildest dreams,
i appreciate the things i have because i have earned them.

Im in your EXACT same situation my brother. I have NO desire to go to college again, although I do miss my friends I made. I also miss the endless weed opportunities, but I say fuck it.
And FUCK whoever says the way your living your life is wrong. There is only one Judge of us, and no one can take his place, and those that do and will, will surely pay.
--I dont give a fuck what anyone tells me, like you said you want to be able to support a family. Thats a great goal. Better than a lot of the people that judge you.

I want a boat, a house in Alaska, and a 4 wheeler lol. Im a cashier at Wal-mart, and although I'm not passionate about the job, I try to bring passion into the job, because I enjoy seeing the smile on my customers faces when I crack a joke or something. Thats happiness in my opinion. Fuck the others that judge you bro, they arent even worth your thoughts or this post lol!!!!!!!! Not discrediting this thread, Just making a point.

Have a good toke man, you deserve it!

I'm also of the type that won't jump into something unless i am passionate about it and know that this is what i want to do. I'm not going to university only to drop out after a couple of years or hell, get the degree and have no use of it. My brother and my flatmate are perfect example of both. My brother did 2 years and dropped out with well over £10,000 of debt and zero to show for it, he's currently sleeping wherever is free of rent. My flatmate went to uni, got a 2.1 in maths, got a LOT of debt racked up, and now he is currently paying for a music production course as he is pushing to become a drum and bass dj, i mean what was the point :D

I'm happy to do as i do, take care of myself and the family as i need and as i see best, and if some stella career opportunity or realization etc pops up then awesome, but i'm not massively fused either way, i am rather content living the life of a simple man. I'd like a big garden to grow fruit and veg, that would be a nice thing to strive for, i mean i generally work for food so how much of a win would that be :)
