is it mold or caterpillars

when cutting out the browned leaves and disheveled area, I noticed little
black "seeds" or maybe bug shit? i don't think those are the "spores" we
are to be careful about when treating botrytis? I found 2 green catapillars

this is my 2nd season outdoors

sounds like rot and bud worms but a pic could clarify

its caterpillar shit inside the bud.caterpillars eat the inside of the bud and shit all inside it then the bud starts to rot where ever the caterpillars ate.check out "safer brand caterpillar killar".
