Is it just me??

Why is it so difficult to order things on the internet these days?

I've been trying to buy a 4" extraction fan, quite easy you would think? I thought I'd treat myself and spend a bit extra and buy one of those acoustic fans to help keep the noise down a bit, so I bought one online from a hydro shop. I ordered a few other bits a long with the fan and duly waited for their arrival.

The shop advertised 'Next day delivery' so I ordered them deliberately on the friday because I am out most of the day on a wednesday so wouldn't be there to sign for any parcels, my thinking was that they would pack up and post my parcel on the monday for delivery on tuesday. I don't think that was unreasonable as they also advertise as being open everyday, but even if they didn't pack and send it until monday then it would still be ok.

Obviously you know what happened next, I waited in tuesday and nothing came and they tried to deliver the parcel on weds when I wasn't there so the parcel arrived on thursday. Which to me is 'next week delivery' not next day!!

Anyway I take the £110 fan out of the box to find the fan is fitted with a 2 pin continental plug instead of a UK 3 pin plug, wtf am I supposed to do with that??? It's too far for an extension lead from France!!

So I had a mooch on the internet and found one on Amazon from a different company that clearly showed a UK plug in their pictures, so I ordered that one and decided to return the first one, it was also £20 cheaper so I thought happy days I've save myself some money.

The second fan arrived 'next day' as advertised! Hoorah I thought, I can set up my new fan! I take it out of the box and guess what? Yep that's right, a 2 pin plug!!!

I'm getting worried now as I'm thinking this is some new EU law saying we have to change all of the sockets in our houses!! Either that or some stupid Chinese kid has put the wrong stickers on the wrong boxes!! You pay them $1 a day and they can't even get that right!!

So now I have 2 of these fans sitting here with the wrong plugs on, so off I trundle to the Post Office to return the two fans. £32.80 to send them both back!!! Daylight flipping robbery!

So still without a fan to go with my new acoustic piping and carbon filter, I decided to go down the route of buying a normal fan and making a box for it. So I ordered a normal extractor fan which came with no plug or lead on, not such a big deal as I have the lead and plug from the old one and proceed to wire it up.

How hard can it be, it's only two wires! Plug it in and I'm thinking wow this fan is pretty silent already no need to make a box, it's that silent in fact it's making no sound at all. That's right my 3rd fan doesn't work either, I changed the fuse just in case and still nothing!

So far I've spent over £300, I still have this fan to send back and no fan for my tent! It's turning into a full time job chasing up refunds and trips to the Post Office.

It's not just these fans, recently I ordered a new air pump, 4 air stones and airline as my old pump was getting noisey as it was getting on a bit. The airline arrived ok, I only received 3 airstones and the air pump never showed up. I rang the place with the air stones who said they would send a replacement which never arrived, so I went to my local aquarium shop and bought one! The air pump they tried to blame on the Post Office, then changed their minds to ran out of stock which means they shouldn't have been advertising them! So had to get a refund, and ordered another one from somewhere else.

It's bloody hard work this internet shopping, am I just the unlucky one this happens to or does anyone else have the same problems??

Well.....At least its nice to know that I'm not the only one that has every single move I make turn into some kind of stupid issue. :)
