Is it bad to push big fan leaves down?

I usually use big leaves because the weigh a lot to either push them against a stem to automatically/naturally supercrop it on its own, or I push it down to get the new shoots to have more light and room to grow, is this a wrong practice?
Will it have any bad affects on my plants?

Better than ripping them off...basic readup on photosynthesis will do you well also
