is it any good?

This is a standard hps bulb. It will work. Its not specifically designed for growing... Instead for lighting. But it will work... Better to get a grow light though - they are purpose made, right spectrum/s and better results, but yes- it will work. Interesting lumen output, seems hps bulbs are much more efficient in the smaller varieties and the 600's ...

--- i just realised you want 2 plants.... I dont know your environment but i would get two of those.

Im not sure why billbilly thinks HPS bulbs aren't for growing, but yes it will work you wont get monster plants but you could probably do two small plants, its built for flowering stage thou. i personally use a Super-HPS with great results.

...yes hps bulbs are for growing...but this bulb is not tailored to produce concentrations at specific wavelengths as a "grow" bulb is, it will work though...

and as for the socket, this bulb is an e17 type socket.. So it wont fit a typical e27 socket... Both are edison screws except one is bigger.

man there has to be but you can get a 150-1000 which i recommend getting the 1000 its the best bang for buck, they will send you ballast blubs you cam switch out METAL HELIDE and then to HPS to bud...But i understand of your on a budget im sure willl work im not sure what end of the spectrum this bulb is though, do you have hanging individual lights? GOOD LUCK and keep us posted my RIU brother!!

Yes I have 4 1750 lumen CFLs on the sides and 2 t8 3100 lumens and 1 65 watt 4000 lumen cfl. I was going to add that bulb with them!

Sure it is, 2700k is 2700k regardless, its all about the light spectrum. " produce concentrations at specific wavelengths" that statement makes no sense.

Really after you get the ballast, cables, hood, and socket for this bulb you will be spending more money then it would be to just get a 400 watt kit off ebay for 100 bucks. Buddy of mine in Texas bought the 160 dollar 1000 watt kit and it has been working fine for years, ive been using the same 400 watt ebay kit for 5 years just fine without a glitch.
