Ok, so nuff pissin and moanin... time to get back to biz. So if im running a carbon scrubber, i want my intake SMALLER then my exhaust? Correct? Or is it still needing to be LARGER then my intake?

Thx.

I build my own grow cab from the leftover of a neighboors old kitchen cabinets.

fairly small 1.5 meters in heights with a good exaust fan I have no problem with airflow or temperature

Passive intake? Make same size or larger.
Though the reduction of flow from the scrubber, will lessen the actual minimum inlet size.

ventilation on my cab is :

6 inch ductfan active exhaust on top
4 inch ductfan active intake on top

so you guyz tellin me i need to switch it up to a 6inch intake hole ( do i use fan??)
on the intake

let me know pics on signature LR2 grown (pre-top fan pix)

so does the exhaust and intake hafto be at nearly opposite positions for circulation, or can they both be close to each other?

thanks

You want intake low, and exhaust high. not sure on recomendations for placement other then that, but ima do mine on oppisite sides to increase air flow...

Hi guys i have just rea this thread and feel i can be of some help. i am priviliged to work for a manufacturer in this industry and am fortunate to know the guys behind various nutrient and equipment manufacturers in our field, this combined with the fact i am an enthusiast and a geek leads me to a bit of knowlage whic i always want to share, now on with some points
It is important to remember that your plant is a living organisam and uses photosynthesis to function so your answer to having intraction should answer itself as the more frsh air you can give to your plant the more carbon dioxide etc they can use.So yes you should use and intraction fan when FLOWERING and also because of the heat but we will get on to that in a sec.
Im from the uk so my fans are rated in m3/h (metre cubed per hour) Now the reason some are telling you to have a bigger extraction than your intake is not so much to do with air-flow but to create ''negative preassure'' which is used to eliminate room odour which can build up even with an adequate filter remember that really only cleans the air going out so when using more than one light u may get a smell develop remeber we get accustomed to the smell so what we may not notice a non grower may.
Now i have read about the side issues on this read regarding air &air flow and thought id pu my two pennies in lol
When air warm the molecules agitate, as they do so they give off a type of radiation which pushes the molecules apart so the centre point becomes lighter and it rises, so when bigbudballs says a bigger intraction will compress the air what he means it will cool as when it cool. the molecules calm and revert back to the way they were (like a tiny ball)
Now the intraction shouldnt alone be responsible for cooling your room this is done mainly by the number of room changes you do,normally starting at 15, and always have a bigger fan to allow for resistance (bends, carbon filters) which is measured in pascals if yu want to look up an equation to calculate it but its not that nessarcery just have a slightly bigger fan than u think u need.
At the end of the day it depends on your set up, but if using hps bulbs u should really have an intake fan, yes you can get away without but is it wirth comprimising on quality, remember look after your plant and it will look after you.
Hope this helps - good luck
