Is 250 watt HPS bright enough?

Hi everyone.

I'm new here and I just started my first grow. 3 blueberry kush plants. They are less than 2 weeks old growing in coco coir as we speak. They seem to be doing alright :leaf::). My grow closet is 2ft x 6ft x 7ft which I really feel good about. I'm growing in Nigeria, west Africa. Temps can be as high as 89F during the day but I get it under control with an A.C. I intend to veg with cfls and flower with two 250watt HPS lamps fitted with cool hoods.

My question is that will two 250watt HPS lights be bright enough to produce more than average yields for my 3 plants? Will the footprint from these 2 lights be enough to cover my grow area? In my research I only read about 250 watt HPS but hardly saw videos of people growing with them. I'm on a very tight budget already cos I hard to imported virtually everything I needed from Europe to Africa. Temps can be high too, so I figured the 250s will be easier to cool down and hung closer to the plants.

Guys I really need a hand here.

I used to use 2x 400 hps in a 4 x 4 tent which was 50wats a foot and my results were ok. I grow {12-16 plants) normal with no training, my harvest would last me about 2 months and I'm a semi heavy smoker.
You're averaging 41 wats per square foot with 3 plants so I would expect an average results unless you train them good.

I replaced my 400 Hps with 2 x 315wats Philips CDMS and my harvest almost doubled.

good luck

@MarWan thanks. I intend to scrog the 3 of them since I have so much space and just 3 plants. Each plant could occupy 2x2ft space. I probably will support the Hps with acouple of warm temp cfls.

How long did you veg this 12-16 plants for? And how tall did they get before harvesting? And what strain were they?

I usualy veg them 6-8 weeks, most of the plants will be 24-28 inchs tall when I flower them, some will strcech more than others depending on strain, but not taller than 1 meter because I grow in 2 & 3 galon pots.
so far I have grown dark star, original sour deisel, chem wreck kush, williams wonder, Pakistan valley kush, blue dream, ww x og kush, Goji Og , Sunshine daydream, good medicine, Critical+, Elephant tranquelizer, train wreck, C99, Aurora Indica and some bag seed.
Currently I'm growing Goji Og, Sunshine daydream, good medicine, train wreck, and lambo all in 5 gallon buckets, they were germinated on October 1, 2016 and now are averaging 2-4 feet tall and have not flowered them yet but wiil be in a couple of days.

Yes
I have used 250 hps tons before
Rule of thumb is 50w per square foot and each plant needs min I square foot to grow.
Your light will need to be as low as your plants can take it
I used a cool tube to get mine close.
I have used LST and Scrog both with excellent results.
Now then, you say you want above average results and to be truthful,
You won't get above average results with a 1000w unless your
Grow area is optimum
Grow ferts are optimized
Temp and humidity is optimum
Grow medium is ...,,,,,
Well I think you see where I am going.
Too many times peeps say that lower wattage can't grow great, but there grow is not optimized.
So if your grow is setup perfect, (not as close to perfect and work with it)
Your 250 will give above average perfect results.
But then agian it will take you a few grows just to find out what your "average" is.
Use what ya got and optimize what ya got to the best it can be.
Time to get growing to find out your "average"
Peace

@Tejashidrow well said. At least I know now that 250 watt hps isn't a bad choice at all. Electricity bill is something of concern to me.
I grow in coco so I intend on taking advantage of its good proprieties to improve feeding and root growth.
Thanks bruh
