hey guy's and gals by now most of you know me, but if not i am Irish Boy

i am a Medical Card Holder, with a prescription from a doctor to grow cannabis for my Medical Conditions.

for the last 3 grows ive been using http://www.growledhydro.com/ lights. On both of those grow's they have treated really good. (check my sig to see my other led journals.)

well guys and gals i am back at it again! This time i have some new grow toys. heres a little info about this new grow.

STRAIN: Casey Jones

LIGHTS: Two 500w lights from http://www.growledhydro.com/

MEDIUM: Roots Organic Soil

POT SIZE: 5gal Lowes buckets

# OF PLANTS: 6

FANS: S&P 6" Vent fans

Nutrients: As i see fit? Dyna-Gro and Organics mixed.

if someone is looking for one of these lights, i made a deal with the owner for my thread supporters to get a discount, just tell him you follow Irish boys threads and heard about a discount offer.

I grew some Casey Jones on a past grow and they ended up dieing on me and had to cut them 5 weeks into bloom, so this the (Revenge Of Casey Jones).

i started these clones off under the 1st gen 2011 GLH spectra 240w lights and will keep them under these lights until their big enough to throw them under this insanely bright (2011) Spectra 500w light witch i have two of them.lol. this thing is a beast!!

heres is some pics of my baby girls i raised.

Heres the New 2011 Spectra 500w.. they are insanely bright, i couldn't even come close to looking into them, i had to walk backwards to turn it off. the in crazy crazy bright, my friend almost fell to the ground because it caught him off guard. when its hanging in the room its not so bad as long as ur above the light but for these pics it was insane bright!! please please wear sunglasses with these lights.

heres some side x side pics next to my old 360w light. the 500w is on the left and the 360w is on the right. the pics dont even do it justice. my 4x4 tray is lite up crazy now. this is going to be very nice.

it's gonna be sick, had to reread all your olds grow cause i always forget the yeilds lol. i'm rockin just one 300w htg, 1w diodes, in a 3.5' x 4.5ish' closet. just use autos though, that way i just keep it on 20/4 all day every day and just harvest the weaklings early and let the best finish while making room for my new crop. ordered some new seeds from the tude, supposedly 60gr+ even indoors. looks like your prolly going to get hp or more each plant this grow....

you think that this is a good light though? I just wanted an experienced led growers opinion, it seems like you've had a bunch of different lights lol. the difference between the 360w and 500w is insane.....

thanks for joining brother.
this is going to be a fun grow and can wait to blast these girls with these lights. they are crazy crazy bright, sunglasses are a must!.lol..

i havent used those lights but know someone that has and didnt like it one bit. i also believe they dont really draw the watts they say they do.

but bottom line i think their BS! no 300w led will match a 1000w hps. its a shady scam they say to sell lights and to rip people off and it gives led teck a bad name, and i am not for that one bit. i dont mean to come off strong but this really gets to me because ive seen too many new growers get mislead by these BS claims. most time the lights that are cheaper actually dont use the watts they claim its always way less. i know black star dose this, their 240w is actually a 133w. its very misleading and makes others think their getting a great deal.

i havent used the light you said, so i cant say 1st hand but this is just how i feel by what their web site says and what ive heard.

and yes i do have a bunch of older led lights from other company's that sit in my closet.lol. dont have the heart to sale them and rip some one off, they are not what they were said to be, this is why its very important for people to do their homework on leds before buying them and always look for trusted growers doing journals.

ya it is.lol. cant wait to see how this turns out?

not sure how many diodes? but they are 3w. and 90 degree leds, and crazy bright.lol
Cmon it can't be that hard to count a row and a column and do the math :P Do these 2nd/3rd gen 2011 units still use any amount of 2w diodes I wonder?

Now I finally have some links to give people here Irish, before I've been telling them to go over there for your journals!

anyone here used Dyna-Gro nutes?
Ask Homebrewer, he is a big fan!!

Irish I have been using a hydroponic hut 550W unit for about 3 weeks now and wondered what sort of height you are using yours at? Also have you found that the flowering has slowed?

Posted on your other thread on accident.

I currently have the Spectra 300 and have been very impressed thus far, it compares more then favorable against my 400watt HPS with much less heat, and denser nugs and healthier plants overall. i am a little jealous of your new light, i am sure it rocks. They keep upgrading technology, i know my light is 3watt led bulbs, what about your new 500w?

i did, thanks for the heads up my friend. i and most keep out lights around 17-18" in flowering and i keep mine 32" in veg with my 300's. these lights are strong and bleaching can happen when closer then those heights, but this depends on the strain, ive had some that will allow for it to be closer, but i get the best nugs that are around 17".. remember not all leds are the same other leds from different company's ive used needed to be 8-10".
i have not had any added flowering times with these GLH lights but i have with other leds company's by a few weeks more.
my 395w 1st gen 2011 has 252 LEDs its 21x12
good to know, got a reply from Mike and ill post it in a sec.

ive heard the same thing from others as well that also have a 400w hps. i know these lights treat me great time after time and i love them and will not be going back to HPS.
i got some specs from the owner and will post them for you guys.

All of my Spectra LED grow lights use 12 wavelengths (different colors)

90 degree lens

true 45ml 3w chips

Draw for thei panels is a true 500 watts

The Spectra 500w uses 252 led's

Thanks!
here is a quote from the owner of GLH about these lights. hope this helps?

I would be surprised if my 395w has the same number of LEDs at the 500w. I guess switching up to all 3w LEDs really made a difference? The average w per LED on my unit is about 1.56 and the average w per LED on that 500 appears to be 1.98 (this math doesn't account for the fans on each unit)

Thats a pretty big difference between my 1st gen 2011 395w and the... 2nd/3rd gen 500w (and they both have the same number of LEDs?)

Irish you should count your 500 in case Mike fogot to update the info on the 500 ;) As most of the website is still not quite up to date.

i told you i counted 252 then mike said the same in his post. so its 252 leds in the 500w

not all colors use the same amount of power so some could be higher then others because some wavelengths travel farther or dont need to be intense, the some leds are at different powers. dont ask witch one i dont know? i just know thats how it works. and i am pretty sure some are around 2.0-2.5 or something i dont remember, its best to ask Mike he knows more about his lights then me. but i do know they are all not drawn the same.

that is crazy urs has 252 also. bro just Imagen how bright they are.lol

how are u plants doing? did you fix ur problem with them?
