Intensity

I was under the impression that LED's was more intense than HPS.
My thinking was the HPS lamp would be more intense in the centre of the area but drop off rapidly towards the edges. The LED would pick up the difference it loses in the centre on the rest of the area.

Whats the truth of the matter? Has any one done tests?

lol..fk..yea...

So LED is no more or less intense than HPS in a given area?..mmmm
usually they put out more photons for wattage provided
spread, diode and power level entirely subjective...you could also hang a 50w led, 1in from something and make it "look" more intense than an HPS especially on paper albeit in amuch smaller area.

Generally the samsung lm301 or verob or citizen will have 20% photometric output over HID watt for watt at test current...possibly higher still with reduced current and more cooling or cooling surface for diodes....

Maybe im misunderstanding you, but HPS is 1.1 to 1.2 umol/j whereas lm301b is easily 2.2 to 2.8+ umol/j after driver losses and all that. So LEDs are starting to hit nearly 250%+ output per watt as HPS at test current.

thats why i put in terms like generally, possibly, lol,etc ie not firm, but at the same time so what in some degree....2+ umol/j also isnt a known quantifier for terpene development and production no matter how hard I nerd out over radiometric output....full circle 3/4 full at the moment I guess....
but considering end use calcs, i stand by it and i agree with you at the same time
