Intake fan and carbon filter

So I've been battling heat since the beginning of my first grow. I have 4 fans in my 5x5 tent with a 240 cfm booster fan pushing fresh air in and a 400 cfm inline fan sucking hot air out through the top. I decided today that I was gonna take the whole inline fan ducting down and play with it to see if I had any leaks ect. Well after playing around I noticed that I suck a hell of a lot more air out of my tent when not hooked up to the carbon filter. My question is, how can I have the same amount of suction while being connected to a carbon filter?

Should be hooked up like this imo.
Carbon filter connected directly to the fan. Duct to the light and duct out of tent (preferably ducted out of the room). If you're ducting in to the same room the tent is in, you're just recirculating the same hot air your blowing out of the tent.

Do you have air-cooled light reflectors?

At any rate, if you feel your fan isn't exhausting enough air while hooked to the filter, you could get another fan and hook it to your filter to clean the air, and use the other for exhaust purposes.

Well I'm using led lights so no cooled sir reflectors. I don't have a lot of room in my tent to hang the filter in the tent. So I have the inline fan right at the top of the tent with filter almost directly on the fan. I basically have it set up to use as little ducting as possible. I've included a pic so you have a better idea. Without the carbon filter it sucks so well that I have to turn the speed down so my tent doesn't get sucked it like it was doing. With carbon filter it doesn't matter if inline fan is at full speed, it doesn't have the same power. I'm lost with all this lol.

I should also mention, I have the blower fan pulling cool air from my house into the tent and my thermostat is set at 70.

Maybe it is me, but the filter looks like it is outside the tent? The filter should be inside with the fan outside, pulling the air from the tent through the filter.

You're correct, it is on the outside. But, there are more than one way to set up the filter. I set it up this way because I have limited space in my tent but works just as efficiently as it would be if it were in the tent. My problem is getting the temp down a few more degrees. I'm on wk two of flower and the temp with tent all sealed up is 81. I would prefer it to be around 75 which is why I need to figure this problem out ASAP

Is the fan outside the tent or inside? Just asking to get a better picture. I have never been a fan of trying to push air through a carbon filter, although I understand some do. Filters are meant to have air pulled through them, thats the way they are usually designed to operate. You do have all the lower vents on the tent open correct? And IMO 80 isnt horrible, but what is the humidity level?

The fan is on the outside of the tent resting on the top. It's in the wooden box, to muffle the sound. Here's a better pic. My humidity is about 45. I plan on getting a dehumidifier soon to get below 40. Maybe I should try and reverse my system and see if I get better results that way. And I do not have the Vents open on the bottom of the tent. But I'm assuming I should based on that question lol.

Thanks for the info. I would reverse the setup and yes, open the vents as it allows the fan/filter system to create airflow which will help with temps and humidity. Even opening the vents may help the current setup if you just wanted to try it to see, but I would still reverse the setup. If I can fit a 6inch fan filter into a 4x4, I think you can into your space. Pull air through the fitler not push. Imo

The filter shouldn't restrict the fan that bad. What cfm is the filter rated for? What is your humidity running?

Awesome read. Thank you very much. I will go ahead and just reverse the setup and see how that works out. I was under the impression that you could use either setup and they would work just as well.
