Sup Y'all, been looking around for some pics and information concerning a couple of eldorado plants I've got growing. What I need are some pics and accurate information on when these plants fully mature. One of my Eldo plants is like 16ft tall the other maybe 9ft. both are flowering beautifully, and are really sugary and starting to take on an orange/amber tint. The trichs aren't changing, but the buds just "look" orange/amber and appear to be in full bloom even though its frosted a few times recently. Any imput on how to tell when the plant is done would be killer. I'll post up some pics soon.

mactre8, I've got one, and the trichs are cloudy, with no hint of amber. The pistils are still 90% white, and the buds are still getting larger. On different portions of the plant you can see where some of the pistils have receeded and hit their swell. The majority though still have a way to go. I'm willing to let her go 2 more weeks, and wanted to game when to harvest for max weight etc.

My woman has the camera so the pics will have to wait until tomorrow. Anyone else have some imput?

Wait until the pistils are about 75% red, then check the trichomes agains. The biggest mistake growers make is harvesting too early. Watch them closely right now, the pistils can all turn red in just a couple of days. Better to harvest later, rather than earlier, as long as the frost is not a threat.

It is said that with a sativa you want as much of the trichomes to be cloudy as possible but it all depends on what you want. The standard is just to do a 50/50 mix but I would suggest waiting for a 75% cloudy/25% amber trichome mix.

Here are the two that are still finishing. I harvested another Eldorado that finished the last week of October. Appears to be 2 different phenotypes, got seeds from nirvana and 3/3 that I planted grew into fine females. The other pheno had all sorts of crazy red, and violet colored pistils. This is bomb smoke! I had to chop about 2' off the top b/c you could see it clearly over the top of my enclosure. I let this piece hang dry for 4 days and decided to sample it....dooood dooood! This is all ive been smoking since. This shit puts ur dome on a string and gives you a very distinct peacefulness at the end of the rush. The rush is no shit you can feel it in your chest and head, almost like a halo effect that you can feel. After I smoke the whole house smells like nag champa, my female loves it.

Hey Reina thanks for the heads up, the hairs are receeding rapidly and the leaves are begining to yellow and drop. You're right about this happening fast, t3 days ago they both looked completely healthy.

Thanks y'all, I think I'm going to chop tomorrow morning. We're expecting cooler temps and I'm tired of sweating balls everytime a plane flies over, so its time. This was my first 100% sativa and I'm really pleased with the results that I got from nirvana seeds. The AK-48 I planted didn't do shit, but the Eldorado more than made up for the sub-par of the 48.

I've read the same thing about the trichs, its weird though, the buds have taken on an amber/creamy orange hue and the trichs are still all cloudy, no ambers. Its only taken about 5 days for the leaves to yellow and start the leaf drop. On my other grows its a much more gradual process. Well y'all I think I'm going to head outside and get to work. I'll post some pics of the harvest this afternoon after I get back from work. You got anything going Outdoorsman?

Thanks Weezer, I'm really diggin the Sativas as well, taste, high and aroma are all outstanding. I've several self-polinated seeds and a nice amount of pollen to do some breeding with maybe I can put something together that finishes earlier! What was it that you were trying to grow? Too bad y'all aren't closer, I wouldn't mind twisting up a few spliffs to kick back with and enjoy the nice weather.

Definately going to need to get some bigger pots, these girls get HUGE! One day they look all half ass then when they hit the growth spurt during blooming you're gonna shit! They just BLOW UP! If you're indoors, I would suggest topping at the 5th or 6th node and LST the crap out of em, think a flat star. Each node will sprout a main branch that will go straight up!
