I've done a lot of searching for this too. Lowe's carries a rather nice one for somewhere around $70. I know ebay/amazon has some for a lot cheaper too. A lot of times they're referred to as external in-line pumps, meaning it sits outside of the water. Maybe that'll help you're search. Links I found:

I chose to use a Danner Supreme Classic magnetic drive utility pump, Model 7 (700gph)
This pump seemed MUCH better built than the Eco-plus line ..If you choose to use the Eco-Plus, be aware of the multitude of inlet and outlet sizes and differences on the same pump. The Eco-Plus 396 is the only pump with ½ inlet and outlet fittings. The Danner Supreme Classic has both a ½inlet and outlet on many in their line.
The face plates on both the Eco-Pump and the Danner Classicare NOT made for screwing fittings into! Be EXTREEMELY careful when screwing in your fittings; do not even come close to over tightening! I split the outlet on an Ecp-Plus . Purchased a Danner and then proceeded to split the inlet on that one also!
Should you purchase a Danner Supreme Classic, also purchase a spare faceplate .. After getting my second Danner pump set up, after three weeks the outlet housing (not the threaded part but the housing this time)cracked . Created quite the little fountain in my hydro room (with no drainage I might add). What a freaking mess!!! I believe I am going to run my pipe through a Uni-Seal and into a 5gal bucket to house the pump in an effort to avoid future catastrophes ..
So .
Eco-Plus Cheap, burns out quickly, poor build quality ..Buy a spare!
Danner Supreme Classic Much better quality, weak faceplate .Buy a spare faceplate!
Best advice I can give Prepare for catastrophic failure.What would happen if the entire system was pumped out onto your floor overnight?
Side note: As far as pump size, I am using a 700gpm pump on four 27gal buckets and a reservoir. There is a good 1 ½ difference between the first and last bucket. I think a 500gal pump would be more than adequate in this system.

@Legalnug, any info is useful bro. Thanks, and I'll take all that into consideration. Hadn't heard of danner, but I'll check them out. All the hydro places around me have active aqua or eco plus. It just makes me a little weary purchasing a $25 pump. Would think it would be more. Don't want to add to the chances of a major problem by getting cheap equipment. Thanks again.
