Inline muffler placement

Now this is going to sound a little stupid but wondering if anyone knew if it was effective to put the muffler on the front of the fan versus the back or would it cause to much pressure on the motor from the friction putting on front or inlet of fan
Any help would be greatly appreciated

It seems it would be more effective on the side closest to your exhaust vent.
Because of the space of the tent this is an inlet and I almost have no room to put it on the rear end or the outlet of the in-line fan I have to put it at the front if I’m going to put it anywhere was wondering if I should just skip it if I can’t put it on the back because it will be uneffective in front

I already have a muffler on the exhaust fan it’s just that I have another hurricane in-line fan that used to bring in Fresh air from the outside inAnd that’s where I don’t have the space to put it on the rear only have space to put it on the front I’ll post a picture
