infrared police helicopters

see thats what i was thinking something like that if your in an apartment building and like on say 7-8th floor and maybe apartment has like 10 floors or more there is so many floors with ppl living on them so there would be alot of heat right or you think apartments are built so that you wont even see the heat only way you can is from side ways?

The choppers would only look for your ventilation system expulsion flow in an apartment. If they find anything that looks unlike the average dryer vent, they may pursue. Actually coming down, and checking closer which apartment it is coming from.

Just vent into another room and throw a piece of styrofoam insulation somewhere (anywhere) between your lights and your roof.

Puffster,

I thought you were leaving?

Is that how you role - when you say something stupid, and are proved wrong you accuse the person who actually knows what they are talking about of being a cop? You are a pathetic little man - go have mommy rock you to sleep.

Now I don't grow indoors, but I still peruse these threads because I find it all very interesting.

Okay, I think I have come up with a very clean and COMFORTABLE solution for getting rid of the hot air in the grow room. Buy a small a/c wall unit and draw the grow room air through the a/c and push it into another room.

Crazy??? Cool it and absorb it.
Nope, not crazy at all. Kind of brilliant, actually. Except of course, that you'd have to install a window between the two rooms or cut a hole of some sort to fit the A/C unit into. Then you'd have to explain why there's a window between your living room/guest room with an A/C unit in it =p

I would cut a hole in the wall, instead of a window...

Maybe cover up the small a/c with some small wall art. Anything temporary will do.

I think it's a waste of time to worry about all this heat nonsense, and get ready CAUSE I'M ABOUT TO USE ALL CAPS alright? IF AN INFRARED COP GOT YOU IT WAS PROBABLY CAUSE THEY HAD A TIP FROM SOMEONE YOU BLABBED TO, loose lips ruin almost all grow ops cops actually just happening to catch people randomly counts for less than 5% of busts with an additional 5% coming from the electric company cause people don't pay, 90% loose lips.

Well, I can tell you from first hand experience that a FLIR heli comes over my neighborhood about every six months and methodically works a grid path.

I hear helicopters and planes of all sorts flying around what seems like 80% of the time here. Of course, the planes can be attributed to the fact that there's an airport nearby, and the helicopters.. who knows? News or traffic probably most of the time, I'd guess. They're typically too high for me to make out any kind of coloring or markings.

You'll know if you are being FLIR'd. I can tell it is coming from a long ways....by the deep pitched sound the blades make, the heli is quite large. LOW AND SLOW pattern about 200 feet up.

We don't have central A/C, just run a unit in each bedroom and one in the living room/dining room, so most of my house probably reads pretty hot. The kitchen and laundry room are easily 10 degrees higher than the outside temp if I'm cooking and doing laundry.

I had been living in a house like that for the last two years it sucks.

As long as the bedroom is cool at night when I go to sleep, I'm happy. It definitely sucks when it's 100 degrees outside and the kitchen is sweltering (the only window faces the neighbor's house and is completely cut off from any potential breeze), but the rest of the house stays pretty cool with the 3 window units. It's a small house, though, and every room has a closing door (even the kitchen)... plus a door between the dining room and the hallway where the bedrooms and bathroom are. Keeping the doors closed definitely makes a difference in how efficient the A/C is at cooling the space.

Infra Red Eye In the Sky Helps Police Target Cannabis Criminals There is no place to hide for Cannabis producers in West Yorkshire, especially with the Police helicopter watching from the skies.

So far this year over 250 Cannabis Farms have been spotted by the Police helicopter, thanks to the advanced thermal imaging cameras it carries.

Many Cannabis factories are excessively heated to help produce the drug and this heat literally makes Cannabis Farms stand out a mile when X99 is in the area.
Head of West Yorkshire Police's Air Operations Unit, Chief Executive John Whittaker said: "As the picture shows, through the thermal imaging cameras onboard the helicopter, hot areas show as an area of black in the camera, so a house being used as a Cannabis factory will be far blacker than surrounding properties."

Unfortunately the detection technology is advancing faster then the concealment tech.....no surprise there.

Police are also not supposed to be using infrared to just look for grow ops, the only reason a cop catches a grow op with infared is they were looking for a missing person or escape suspect and just happen to be in the neighborhood. 90% of grow ops are busted because of loose lips, they sink ships.

Totally depends on where you live. They won in court where I am, and they now according to the cops have every right to use the choppers to look, and look they do.

I Only run T5s for a reason. LED lighting is supposed to be great for heat. When I make the switch I'll let you guys know how much heat comes off them. My T5s run way cooler than any HPS or MH. Where I live, I have to take every precaution I can. I can't afford to lose my house, so the less heat sig I have the better, no matter what. I just can't risk anything.

Like I said soon to be out with the T5s and in with the LEDs. Although that is a lot of wated money in T5s...If only the wife will let me convert the basement too...

Well then the best thing I can recommend is a heavy ground to air RPG.

I have a huge property, if you know where I can get some SAMs that would be good.

Lol, My neighbour did fire off a Potato cannon he built at the cop chopper once, I think he missed though.

The best anti-detection method is common sense, which most people seem to be born lacking.

If you're growing lots of pot under big, hot lights - do it in an interior room that's well insulated from the rest of the house and then diffuse the heat throughout the house rather than venting it to the outside or doing nothing at all.

I run quite a few 1500W space heaters in my tiny ass house during the winter, so for those of you with a couple 1000W HPS or MH lamps... don't even worry. Just be smart.

Random-looking vent on a second story blowing hot air 24/7? Not smart.

Running a 10,000W grow in your attic, right beneath your poorly insulated (read: shingles nailed to particleboard) roof? Not smart.

It's sad but it's true - if law enforcement decides you're a "suspect" and they're going to fuck with you, they're going to fuck with you. What it basically comes down to is never letting any evidence of your illegal activities leave the confines of your home. If that means you have to grind up your harvested stems and make fucking potpourri out of it instead of throwing it out with the trash where anyone can come by and dig through, then do it.

that's my philosophy, anyway.
