Is it ok to use insecticide on plants with buds??

Are they spider mites???

Thrips have long thin bodies dont they? These are shorter and fatter and the end of them is a bit bigger then the head. They dont seem to move very quickly..very slow.

Dammit this sucks :(

Ok i just sprayed a load of biobizz leafcoat on the affected area, seemed to thin them out immediately. Hopefully it will keep them at bay before i find a real solution.

Ive heard stories that leafcoat contains neem oil???

Does anyone actually know what it contains????

So..I forgot to check the underside of the leaf.........

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WHAT THE HELL ARE THEY?!?!?

DSC01027.jpgDSC01026.jpg

At a glance id say there's about 10 billion of them on one leaf :P lol

I rang my local horticulture store and was advised to fumigate with co2. Seal off the grow area and turn off ventilation. He didnt say how long i needed to do this for though..

HELP MEH!!

Those look like aphids, I would use the same spray that would be used for any other insects in the garden. The problem with aphids is that they produce extremely fast so make sure you wipe them all off after spraying and check a few extra times. after that I'd be watching those plants closely for the rest of the time.Soybean-Aphids.jpg

Ah thanks man, that looks exactly like them except yellow.

Would neem oil do the job for these?

Or should i just use the garden bug spray..im worried that using it on plants that have 2 weeks of flower left might affect the buds badly..

The CO2 eradication formula is 10,000 ppm for one hour. That's for mites, but I can't help think it would kill what you got too. If you go the CO2 route, be VERY careful, do NOT go in that room during the fumigation. You could walk in that room, fall asleep, and never wake up!

i would say thats some kind of fungus
You cant be serious man. I think you smoked a bit too much today xD

Thanks for that godslave, i think the co2 thing might be a bit extreme for aphids. My grow is also connected to a living space with my pc so id have to not use my pc for a few days lol :P

I need to spray them with something. Can some body tell me if its safe to use garden insecticide on plants with buds???

even a good spray with water will knock them off, could use organic pest control from shop, just try and stay clear of buds

That, is definitley NOT a fungus. lol
Neem should do the trick, I would spray the other stuff in a weaker dose just in case, I've never had these lil bastards inside thank god, but I;ve seen what these things do outdoors and its not pretty whatsoever. Like I said, spray them down, wipe them off and continue to recheck the plant regularly for them. The minute even one of these escapes your sight, your going to have 100's more within a day or 2. they are really that fast in reproduction. The biggest problem is, that depending on the season, these nasty fuckers can breed with or without a mate. Usually the asexual reproduction takes place through spring and fall, and the normal mating period is through the fall and winter. When I say breeding without a mate, that means that these bugs wont need a male bug to make them go prego, they just do it on their own. I assume that this is related in some way with the aphids having such short life spans, so the need to continue living is taken care of much earlier.
Point being, get rid of these however you can and as soon as possible. if some start getting wings, they can and will fly to other plants.

You can also introduce lady bugs for aphid control. I just checked on Ebay and they are still available, I have used these people before, and the lady bugs work great! Tore right through a VERY BAD infestation on my black eyed peas. And when I say bad, I mean so bad you couldn't even see leaf material in places, it was just a bed of aphids. Lady bugs destroyed them all in 2 days! Here is the link to the vendor I have done business with: http://cgi.ebay.com/2000-LIVE-LADYBUGS-FREE-SHIPPING-/280570680572?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item415350d4fc

You can spray with water and knock them off until the lady bugs arrive, they ship fast, I can attest to that...

No problem, I just happen to know my bugs and you got lucky when I saw your thread lol
I totally forgot to mention the ladybug thing, I would totally recommend them if you can afford them, they do indeed clean out any aphids. Ladybugs are aphids natural enemies, the one problem with using them is making sure they all stay in the area where they are needed.

Also yes spraying them off with water works, but it doesn't do so great indoors, even if you have an indoor area that is safe to spray down, chances are their going to get sprayed into corners, other plants, on walls, pretty much everywhere the water goes, I don't recommend it unless you're growing outside.
