I just moved. It sucked and I needed better space than I had at my last apartment.

While the World is on its knees financially, I scored a better housing situation than the one I had......for the same price....... so..while my life sucks...it sucks less right now...... and I AM GRATEFUL!....

Pics and more in depth conversation tomorrow. Lets chat fellas and ladies! What else you gonna do here?:hump:

Did I mention....I am as tired as Minutes after sex......nope.... nuthin!

I had an old plastic three shelf unit made by Plano. White is perfect...free is even more perfect.

I had an old variable speed window fan, my old lights from my closet grow(four 42 watt CFL 2700K), and two new mogul base 60 watt CFL lamps, two automotive windshield light reflectors and some brackets from my wall mount microwave that is no longer mounted to the wall! LOL. I have two timers and a digital temp guage.

I wanted to do one last CFL grow to see if I could maximize light to plant and only adjust lights once a week instead of daily.

Actually the lights stay stationary. The middle shelf with the plant is adjusted up or down instead. This way the lights dont get banged around and the plant is moved out and away for a few minutes while the shelf is slid up or down on the four corner posts and secured with small screws.

The hollow corner posts also double as wire chase for the electrical and also vents from bottom shelf through the top. Home made carbon filters consisting of the old ladies Knee highs stuffed with activated carbon are placed in the top of the hollow post and a carbon matt is secured over the fan unit on the top shelf. One fan and passive vents from top to bottom.

Im in a basement now instead of an upstairs closet so temps are not near as much a problem as before when a a three speed floor fan was used with only minimal temp adjustment and ventilation available.

The bottom shelf has my tea tub and aquarium pump and a small veg chamber. When the tea is done, I put a hose on the pump and water/feed in place. I would go automatic on a timer but after my6 first two grows I still want to control exactly when they drink based on need rather than a timer setting.

Its a work in progress but so far I am really pleased with myself. Pics to follow tonight as the girls sleep all day. This way any possible vistors to my basement while I am at work see no light leaks or hear fans running as this covered shelf hides behind my tool box. Basements are great for this since they maintain cool temps all the time winter or summer.:eyesmoke:

Ok back to sex! Yesssss, Old coots have sex...in fact chances are good we have had more sex with more people than younger folks! Old Coot ladies bleed less often if at all and somewhere around 40 they usually hit their stride and want it more and are less prone to being preoccupied with kids. Some of you younger dogs could do well and often with a cougar. They require less money because they have their own and are more focused on the task at hand. Further they are more open to new and different things. By 40 they are less squeemish about certain acts and with any luck have had some practice. All the better for the male lover in my book! Anymore questions?

Thanks Rob! Yep everyday household stuff. I could afford to do more but second hand crap or simply not used stuff laying around gets the job done. Improvising is what makes it fun. Drop in anytime!

Some pictures

The first pic is of my fan set up on the top of the unit. The variable speed window fan was traced on the shelf and then holes drilled in the corners of the tracing. Then a skill saw was used to make the opening. Heavy foam tap under the edges and shoot some drywall screws in the through the outer corners fan unit securing it to the shelf

Second pic shows freshly potted up plant, lights, and fans running. She was getting root bound so I had to. More than doubled her dirt supply with FFOF, worm castings and bat guano. Big Kitty litter pail does the trick nicely. Holes were drilled in the bottom, the new mix put in and watered then left a couple days and turned a couple times and tonight we gave my girl some liebens raum for more roots. I didnt lose a spec of dirt when I cut her out of her second container to put her in here. Roots looked great over all but needed space.

Pic three shows the shelf she sits on. The shelf was modified too slide up and down the posts and is then secured with screws when the desired height from the lights is achieved. The lights are stationary but can be moved around quite easily. A hand full of sockets of various typed makes moving bulbs easy and with two light strips the possibilities are endless.

Pis four is CFL HELL!
I have one 60 watt 2700 k, two 65 watt mogul base 6500 k bulbs, and five 42 watt 2700 K bulbs under the hood.
400 Watts on one plant.

Thanks Meridian. The unit is 48 inches tall but can be raised with PVC for add on height.

Since I am using LST at the moment, I lower the middle shelf instead raising to top

Here are some pics, two weeks into flower. I counted 28 tops when the pics were taken

The shelf is a work in progress. Making my filter mats for the fans are next and then a blackout top with adequate venting is next. The final detail is a black cloth wrap for the whole unit with some dragging the ground so that the upper shelf can be raised without light escaping. Im going to use velcro on the front edge and down one side so access is easily opened and secured. The inside door of the curtain will get a layer of mylar applied with spray adhesive. The outer top shelf will have 4 round pvc stubs that fit in where all the legs do in the corners. The lid itself will be slightly over sized so air can escape but light wont via a six inch or so black drape over the longer drape surrounding the whole unit

Right now the whole unit sits behind my tool box under ther stairs and cant be heard over ther furnace or the air conditioning. Looks like typical basement stuff.

Speaking of Stealth. in my opinion getting max yield from one plant in a very small space makes more sense. If you were to slip up and get busted with one plant it would surely be a lesser offense than making the local news with eight or ten or more. Also a box in your closet with wires hanging all over the place is a dead give away. A self contained unit with one strategically placed extension cord is much less visible. A second unit for veg, keeping mothers, clones and seedlings will be next. Three mothers will be my goal with this plant being the first mother to be re-vegged for clones and or breeding.

More about this when my shelf is complete. Pics will be included
