Indoor stealth grow#2

Week #1 Update

This is my second attempt at the same grow. The first attempt was halted when my landlady (nosy bitch that she is...)heard the sound of a fan in my apartment when I wasn't in and decided to check it out. She "accidentally" broke my 400W bulb breaking down the closet door, obviously the large padlock wasn't enough of a deterrent. Being an aging hippie, she didn't bust me and decided instead to put in her two cents worth; I was allowed to grow only one plant at a time and only if used a money-saving 23W CFL bulb and soil instead of hydroponics that she didn't understand. I ended up putting a few plants out to pasture and kept a Lowryder#2. Surprisingly it didn't come out too bad.

My new indoor grow is in my bathroom. My composting toilet provides a little noise interference against the fans and the grow area is in the cupboard underneath the sink. The inside is all white and aside from a big black pipe in the way it provides an area of about 3 feet by 2 feet and about 2 feet high. The cupboard contains 2 small fans, 2 X 23W CFLs and a reflector crammed into the back. The bathroom is always warm (the toilet needs heat) and you can't hear the fans from outside the apartment.

I'm using some seeds I'm familiar with (Rasputin IBLs) and some GHS females I was sent recently. The Rasputins are Lowryder crosses and only grow about a foot or two in height and at most 6 inches wide. I'm not sure about the GH seeds though, I'll tackle that hurdle if and when I ever come to it.

Germination has not gone well. Its been about a week now and only 2 out of 8 Rasputin seeds have germinated properly. The GH seeds (AMS, Church, Big Bang) have also disappointed me, only the AMS is starting to germinate and the rest have not changed. The germinated seeds have been placed into rockwool cubes, the Rasputins have already produced massive roots and have been placed into a premade organic soil mix in 3 inch pots for about two days.

I know the grow space is severely cramped and can barely support a half a dozen seedlings let alone full flowering plants. I know the lights I'm using are a joke but I'm still optimistic. Then again this could just be one big bad idea. Anyway, I'll send an update when something happens or by next week at the latest.

Wow, Rasputins are awesome plants. If you're like me and are not a man of patience than you'll be pleasantly surprised with the quick development of these plants. Its been barely a couple of hours since I last checked on them and the difference is incredible. Almost doubled in their size of leaves and the width of the stem. One is developing quicker than the other, at the time of germination it was the first to sprout and produced a root twice as thick as the other seed. On a optimistic note another 2 Rasputins have cracked their shells and popped roots, I'm going to give them at least another day before putting them in rockwool though.

I'll see if I can't get hold of camera...

No camera, I did pick up some cheap CFLs though. I got a 40W, 2 X 13W, and a 10W bulb and a couple of socket splitters. Another 2 Rasputins have been put into soil. No sign of life from any of the Greenhouse seeds, if these don't pop soon I'll replace them with something else.

Ouch, since my last update the only surviving Greenhouse seed (A.M.S.) has decided to top herself, I guess some women are just too good for this world. Due to the confined space of the grow area I've had to remove a couple of bulbs, now there are just the 10, 13, 23 and 40W CFLs. The little 3-inch pots didn't last long, it was barely a day before there was a massive overhang of roots escaping out the bottom. I ended up just putting the three seedlings into one ten gallon pot. Its a shame I don't have a camera yet, two seedlings are barely starting out and the oldest (by a six hours or so) is massive in comparison. Its on its fourth set of leaves and is about 3 inches higher than the others.

Week #2

One week down and eight or nine to go. Couldn't get hold of a decent camera and had to use the built-in webcam (shit pics). As you can see although only hours apart in germination there is a significant difference in size. Anyone offer me some tips on how to get this big and bushy as soon as possible?

Week #2

O.K., three plants in one large pot wasn't a long term solution and the roots were already sticking out the bottom. I placed them each in their own large pot and crammed them back in the cupboard, literally crammed. Let's hope the transplant went alright.

Cramming did not work out well enough. This afternoon I acquired an old stereo stand and I will attempt to redesign it into a decent grow box. I have a half a brain, a bag of leaf and a few leftover hydroponics gadgets to work with, and yes, I've already started smoking the leaf.

I received an unexpected and altogether illegal visit from my landlady who decided to do another inspection while I was at work. She removed all my plants, "accidentally" broke every bulb and then sent for a junk removal truck to dispose of the grow cabinet. When I got home she was waiting inside and had helped herself to my coffee. She then handed me a bill for $125 for the clean up and removal of my cabinet. I packed up my shit and got the fuck out of Dodge. Two days later I made a karma call to the local property inspector and had them do a survey of her property; low and behold she had three unregistered residences (payback bitch!) and was about to get some just desserts when a police officer happened to spy something in her window of great interest, MY FUCKING PLANTS! Naturally, she tried to blame me for it but my place was now occupied by a new tenant and she ended up getting burnt for trying to pin it on someone else. One of the cops tried to confirm her story by interviewing the other residents....To make a long story short she now is being questioned concerning her harboring of no less than 18 illegal immigrants.

And thus ends yet another failed grow op.
