Indoor soil growing. Advice?

I'm attempting this I two slightly different ways. In one pot I'm going to just put the seed directly in the soil without germinating it. In the other I'm going to germinate it in a paper towel and add it to the rockwool. I'm using the same water of course so they both have the same ph levels and whatnot... Also I'm putting these on the same grow area with my bubble system which I just started yesterday. The setup is as follows:
4x4x1.5 ft
24 in torment lighting
Ph down
superthrive

I can't help but to think that I'm missing something vital. besides the nutrients and digital meters of course.

Any pointers?

dont let the taproot extend out of the seed before removing it from the paper towel otherwise it will attach itself to the the paper towel and you will be ripping tons of microscopic hairs. when you see it cracks then plant the seed in rockwool or an expanded peat pellet. keep moist
