'indoor' plants outdoors...

my indoor grow room is full of blooming plants. I have 5 papayas vegging on the deck.

Nirvana, the place I got them from, lists papayas as being indoor plants. My plan was to veg them outdoors and bloom them indoors. However, with a full grow room and 14 hours of daylight approaching, that isn't going to be possible. If I could bloom these on the deck that would make things much easier.

Does anyone have experience growing papaya outdoors? What problems might I encounter blooming an 'indoor' plant outdoors? Is there anything I can do to mitigate possible problems?

I hardly doubt you will run into problems. When they listed it as "indoor" they are just saying it thrives under artificial light and climate. They should do just fine.

By saying indoor they mean it's less resistant to mold, pest and weather issues so as long as your area stays at under 95f and above 55F and you keep the pest/mold under control they will thrive and you can expect a good harvest.

so... now another question has popped up in my head about this batch of plants growing on my deck. Outdoors, how much light is too much light? I live in a fairly urban area. I'm worried about street lights and such.

Also... I was checking on sunrise/sunset times and average high low temps for mid october (when the papayas should be done). I'll end up with about 11 hours of daylight, which should be fine. However, my average high temp for that time of year is only mid to upper 50s. My average low for that time of year is low to mid 40s. Its been a hot summer... so hopefully fall will be warmer than these numbers too.

I've been growing indoors for several years. This is my first time blooming outdoors... so some of it is a bit new to me.
