when you are looking at seeds online they always tell you approx how many days or weeks of flowering...

shoold i be counting from the day i swithched to 12/12 or from the day they started flowering? its about a 2 week difference.

also anybody have an approximate idea how long kush should take to complete budding?
i dont know the exact kush strain, the seeds were givin to me, they went into 12/12 on March 13th and started budding around the 22nd.

one of the plants has alot of red hairs on the top buds but all the lower buds are all white hairs.

any input is greatly appreciated....
thanks

When plant gets a "frosty-like" look, and hairs turn amber/red or whatever... then it is time for harvest...

Kush's are usually 8-9 week flowering time. Yes, it is considered from wen ya put em on 12/12. Do not go by yer hair color, do not go by time except as a guideline. Seeing that yer growin kush, I assume ya want a couch-lock, right? Wait til all yer trichomes turn amber. Not yer hairs, but yer trichs.
I will enclose a trich picture. Ya check yer trichs w/a microscope glass. The 1 from radio shack: http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2179604 works gr8!
In the pic that I attached, ya can see the diff colors of the trichs, the green arrows point to clear trichs, the yellow to cloudy, and the red to amber. In order, those are the stages yer trichs mature @ and is how ya know yer girls are done

well i have 10 plants in a 4x4 room under a 400 watt hps. all went 12/12 on 3/13. so they have been in 12/12 for 41 days as of today, but they have been actually budding for 31 days (when they showed sex).

They are all "frosty like", some more than others, there are some that look like they got snowed on, with shitloads of crystals. only a few top buds on a few plants have red/amber hairs. do i wait to most of the buds on the entire plant have turned on certain plant or just go by the top buds?

i am man, i was tyoing my response to the first guy when you posted.
great info man.
My bad, bra! Go by the majority of the plant. If most of the upper buds are ready, ya CAN harvest the plant in sections. That is actually why it is recommended to harvest larger plants in sections, just in case she isnt as ready as ya thought!

If your lights are from above only, the tops will finish and the lowers will need more time.

(1) buy a scope. other then that, it's a guessing game.
(2) buy under lighting or cut the lowers in the beginning.

you could simply prune the tops when finished and keep the plant going intill lowers are ready.

-no scope? have you seen your plants take on almost another look? have they almost doubled in size after 40 days in?
growing dense instead of growing new hairs? these are signs of being close, like the 2-3 week more marker.

yeah, my son actually has a lab grade microscope i can "borrow", hope he doesnt notice its gone and ask what i'm using it for! that should do the trick. I think i may harvest in sections and just lower the lights. they went into 12/12 at an average height of 12 inches and are all 30 to 36 inches now. only 2 of 10 are kush, the rest are from various bags of weed that i liked.

i'll peep those thrichomes through the scope tonight and see if some clippin is deserved. (two of the plants are actually 8 weeks 12/12 today, the rest are still a couple weeks out)
thanks bro

Good advice and +Rep, BTW!

they are triple in size and the two earliest ones (2 weeks ahead of the others) have blown up in the last week.

i check the trichs last night. the scope is a 20x 60X 100X- it has 3 heads that rotate. they are loaded with trichs, nice big round heads, but are mostly very clear, not even cloudy.

My buddys kid has an eyeclops that isnt being used. dont know if you guys have seen this, but its a kids scientific toy that magnifys up to 400x. it plugs into the tv a/v inputs. i have used it before, if you find a blemish on your skin the size of a pin prick and put the eyeclops on it it looks like a detailed volcano on the tv screen. I'm going to clip a few of the "frosty" leaves and check them out tonight.

thanks for the info guys
