How would you go about adding more nitrogen to seedlings?? mine have been out of the soil for 5 days and supposedly (higher levels of nitrogen in the first two weeks of the plants life increases female production.) could i add ash or something of the sort that I would have on hand nothing fancey. any ideas????:peace::joint:

you can buy bone meal i think or its blood meal 1 of them is very high in nitrogen. Also other way to get more females from seed are:
1:lower temperatures
2:high humidity
3:higher growing medium moisture
4:more blue light during veg
5:fewer hours of daylight (e.g. 14 hours instead of 18/6)
6:less stress
all of this is from www.dutch-passion.nl from the archives within the site hope that helps

Although I've never tried it I've heard the banana peel thing works because of some gas it gives off (starts with an E I think) Although I'm a bit skeptical, if that were really the case wouldn't all the seed companies just buy a bunch of banana peels and make their own female seed.

I'd say your best bet is just buying fem seeds, or if you got a female already just stress it into seeding itself for fem seeds. I hear alot of people knock feminized seeds and say they always hermie, but from personal experience and just observance its the people that never even try them that are knocking them and in my own and any of the grow logs I've read starting with Fem seeds I've never seen or read about a hermie problem. Hell even if they did hermie at a rate of 1 in 10 (which I don't believe they do from experience) thats still 9 females out of 10 versus 5 you would average with regular seeds.

stressing your female into a hermie does create fem seed but you do get a good percent of hermie or intersex plants which are different. you'll see a pollen sack w/ a pistill shooting out = intersex. The best way would be stressing females and then finding the pure xx female. Only a true female that will not hermi under stress can you make pure fem seeds good breeders like greenhouse seed co and dutch passion do this thats why the gaurentee their fem seeds you can do it yourself by switching the light cycle while flowering around a whole lot make it diff every week. But this takes time effort and turns alot of females from sensi to seedy. but that one true female is worth the find then spray it with stamen-it and your good to go

Ethylene gas is given off by ripening bananas, apples, and many other fruits. A major hemp producer noted a 50% increase in females when the seeds were exposed to ethylene gas 2 week before germination up to 2 weeks after they have sprouted. If you do this, you will notice an increase in females. You have to plan ahead to do this. Remember to change the banana peels...once they turn yellow they have given off most of the ethylene gas.
