Inaugural bagseed run

It's been a long road...about 30years by my count, and I am finally starting a legal MJ grow.:bigjoint:
In my life, I have managed a couple garden centers at big box retailers. I've grown veggies of and on at home and in collective gardens since I was a kid. My ultimate goal is to get enough smoke for my meds and to experiment a bit with grow methods and strains. My top three wish list strains are SLH, Tangerine Dream and DP Orange Bud. Before I kills those :-P I thought I'd better try my setup out on some bag seed. Plus, what better excuse than this did I need to get any vegetables ready for planting, and why not try out hydro systems on peppers, tomatos and herbs?
I took my bagseed and sorted them into 3 categories. Big and plump with striations, big and plump with solid coloring, and finally plump ones pale in color. All 4 striated ones popped, 3 solid colors did and just one pale seed (so far). Maybe that conclusion was obvious...but I like to mess around and try things.
The first two rows in the last pic are weed, the final row is mixed peppers that seem to slow to go but have taproots this picture does not show. Pics 1 and 4 are day 5. Pics 2 and 3 are day 3 and the last pic is my room in progress.
Cheers!DSC02955.jpgDSC02952.jpgDSC02953.jpgDSC02956.jpg1299023040405.jpg

Day 8. No big changes to speak of. I need a fan, and possibly a couple cfls @2700k. The seedling that only sprouted cotyledons is in the middle row, fourth from the bottom. What should be the first set of leaves is just two small yellow hair like structures currently. Weird.

11 days in, and I am reminded that less is always more when it comes to fertilizer after I add two too many tablespoons of grow big and end up frying 3 till shriveled death.:-( But all is not lost, because I thought this might be a great time to see what my aquarium water will do (always been curious) if I flush with it. I am on a well with a softener and the water is a 7-ish ph. The tank water is a 6 or lower, so it made sense. After two days the remaining three are perking back up. :-P
There is one seedling that has sprouted calyx and pistils right after the cotyledon...something a consensus thought was impossible, but the photos and discussion are in this thread:

I have also added two 42W 2700k bubs to the two 42w 6500k and two 42w 4500k I have. Hopefully going to move these guys this week to 2" baskets in an irrigation pipe. Pics to follow this week!!

Day 21, 3 weeks in. I had some trouble getting my ph low enough in the reservoir for my aeroponic system, so the plants suffered some with just 6 left now. But hey, it is all about working the kinks out now so that some better genes can move in!
I am running 16 spray heads off my 500gph pump and it seems to be the limit. Happily, the addition of the gang valve allows me to turn each pair on and off separately. After a week of almost no growth, the roots have really taken off, so hopefully in the coming weeks I see some exponential increases in foliage. Pics 1,2 and 5 are the seedling that started growing pistils first. It has added leaves, two completely separate branches right from the get go. Should be interesting to see where it goes from here.

Thanks drampire! LOL, I don't know if "good" is how I'd put it. They are growing, that much is true. Pale, fert burned, a bit stunted...but growing. They started stinking already too.

Day 28. I have 6 in 3" baskets. They are in 4"PVC with 180 spray heads on either side of the basket. Right now I am running a weak (half the manufacturer recommends) mix of Fox Farms Big Bloom and Grow Big. The timer I have for my pump only goes down to 15min cycles, and for a time I was running 45min on 15 min off because I was unsure of the coverage I would get on the baskets. That was far too wet and I have now flipped that (15 on, 45 off) . A couple of the plants got pretty droopy for a bit. This week I also went through and removed any damaged/dead leaves from the bout of over fertilizing. I put all my cfls (two 42w@6500, one 26w@6500, two 42w@4500 and two 42w@2700) in a single fixture so I can move them around more easily.
I am getting my large light, a 400w hps this week, so I will be moving 4 to larger baskets and buckets this week. I am going to stop using the FF nutes also, I have just heard too many issues with sediment and clogging. I am buying the Jack's stuff that someone here recommended.
Anyhow, pics!!
This first one is the largest so far. Has a heavy skunk odor.

This next one has a nice fruity hint to its stink

This one I fimmed, just practicing. Stressed it enough to get lanky on me. Oops.DSC02993(1).jpg
4th one is a bit behind
DSC02995(1).jpg
This one was started a full week behind the first 3.

Last...My little deformed seedling. This is the one that first sprouted pistils. It now has two separate main branches, without pairs of leaves. it is odd to say the least. Having a hard time getting it going very well too.

The only thing changing is the rate they are growing. I ordered a 600W hps, it should arrive Tuesday. I will be moving the 4 largest ones into bigger buckets under the big light. Hopefully a week of that and I'll be able to weed out males. Fingers crossed.
The deformed one is really going finally. There is nothing symmetrical in what it has done so far.
PICS!

I can really kick myself for not getting a better light first. For beginners, the single most important thing is your light, buy the biggest one you can afford/fit in your grow. Ha!
Secondary to that, I should not have been stubborn about the fox farms. It created a ton of stinky sediment in my reservoir. One solid week of the classic GH Flora 3-part and everybody is worthy of smiles. Even the SLH that is only 29 days from seed is finally pushing new growth regularly, and has finally gotten a darker green.
I have moved nothing to flowering yet. I had to do a bit of odor control for the wife, lol. However, I did upgrade things on that side. I have 5 gallon buckets now, and after learning from the placement of the spray heads in my tubes I'll be dropping them in from above...I'll show pics when I'm done.
The irregular plant has exploded nicely. The twist in that tale is this, I am germinating replacements for the 4 spots I have open and one of the new beans has sprouted calyx first as well!
On to the pics:

Two of these survived till the end. I am sure there are pictures about someplace hbere. Yield of about 2.5z from the first one, I took bits of it at a time to satisfy my curiousity over the various stages during drying. The second has a 16" cola, I am currently flushing it. It took forever to finish...it'll be what, 10weeks on Tuesday?

Damn I'd like to have some 16" colas lol. Right now I've got LSD, Brainstorm, Hindu Kush, AK48, clones from my first sativa, and another one I picked up w/o a name but they have middle fan leaves 2" wide. Never seen it before, but was told they put out some huge buds.
