In the planning stages...please offer feedback. I want to do this right

You think the top 600w is the way to go? Are these no name brands as good as buying a name brand off the shelf at a hydro store?

I plan on putting a 450cfm fan off the hood and vented out of the box. The intakes would be 2 inch pvcs that go into the other 2 chambers and pulls fresh air in from the mother chamber. In other words, the air would be drawn in from the mother chamber, through the veg/clone chamber into the bloom chamber up through the light and through the fan and out of the house? Does this seem possible?

I have to create a drawing to post to better show what I am talking about...let me go give that a try

Thanks for the links reefcouple and sencha. That package for $250 sounds good. Do you think 600w is too much and 400 would be enough or go 600?

Nah, stick with the 600 digi, everyone ends up upgrading and 600's are fantastic lights... may as well not waste money on a 400 that i'm sure you will eventually replace with a 600..

Good to know...the 600 it is. I use to use a 400 in a fridge and maintained good temps. this area is about 25% bigger so I should be able to handle it.

Trying to use google sketch it to draw my plan but not working out that well...

Keep us posted and maybe start a grow journal.. glad I could help and very glad you went with the 600!!

Nice. I will look into a grow journal for sure. This is such a rewarding hobby and now that it is legal for me...i can enjoy it with no worries.

Have fun bro. Don't buy stuff from a hydro store unless you need it NOW or the shipping is to much! Too pricey. Add me to your friends list, I'd like to see a grow journal too.

I'm currently building a room almost the same size as yours with a 400 watt light so maybe we can compare notes.

Heres my plan. I hacked out a drawing in google sketch up. Not very good but it shows my ideas. The closet already exists and has been used for storage so noone will know any different when they see it. The ballast and duct on to will never be seen.

I got some feedback on another thread and I am now re-considering my mother chamber. Should I consider building a smaller, maybe 12" wide by 3' deep by 24" high veg chamber which would give more top room for my plants and just grow from Fem seeds everytime. Less maintenance with no mothers to care for plus I could possible fit 5-6 plants by resting 1 or 2 pots on top of the veg chamber (the young plants that already need a boost to keep their tops even with the lights)? I know I could probably put a veg chamber somewhere else as light is not an issue since they will be on 24/0 anyways but I rather keep everything in one area.

Yeah I would give more space for momma and take away some of the space for the babies... you just gonna put a little daisy cloner in there?

I go motherless now, and I get about 2 yrs out of a strain (cloning from clones), i used to have momma's but I like not having them now.. Just an idea... So if you ditch the mothe chamber you could go taller in your clone chamber, drop and air stone in your cloner and use that as your veg station as well (thats what I do), I start blooming when they are about 10" tall...

Reef...Thanks again for helping me out. As soon as I figure out how to give rep, I will.

So you are saying to eliminate the mothers and just go clone to flower? So do I just grab a cutting off a clone right before I put her to flower and start that clone again and keep going? Or do I put her to flower for a week or so and take my cutting for the next plant? If I can eliminate another chamber I eliminate another light, timer, space, and work so it sounds like a win-win.

I am on attitude seeds looking now...Looking to get a single feminized seed for 10 different strains...if I do that, I can have 6 in the flower chamber at a time...might be tight...but I really want to harvest a different strain every week or 2 to have a variety.

How long can I keep a clone in veg before flowering without it getting to big?

If you go with different strains, try to get all the same height (for light penetration), its difficult blooming a shorty (indica) and even a medium taller (hybrid or sativa)..

What I do is have a couple strains going, I veg in my cloner and when I transfer them to my bloom table I take a couple few clones off her. Saves me alot of time, space and money..

If you're cool with buying fem seeds you should really look at a few great seeds 12/12 from the git go.. I can post a link if you want....

And if this is a perpetual garden, you should make a couple or just buy something that will work to elivate the plants when you first put them in... otherwise they will likely not get the light penetration they need.

I plan on all straints that max out at 3 feet or I will top as neeed. I will elevate each plant individually so no matter how short or tall, all the tops will be the same height. (crates and blocks should work).

How do you mean 12/12 from the git go? A link would be great. I think I want to avoid autoflowering if thats what you mean....they don't seem to have the yeild that I am hoping for.

Thanks again for the help!

Keep in mind if you have to top they grow wider, so you may lose space for a plant or two.. I would start with some indica's for the first round or two and plan from that point going forward..

12/12 from seed, theres a couple growers on here that do it and I have been very impressed with the results.. I just need to dig up the journal, and when I do I will post the link for ya..

I'm not an auto flowering guy either.. I'm a "white strain" guy almost exclusively..

Duh...I'm an idiot. 12/12 from seed is so obvious I didnt' even get it. Sorry. I will check that link out today when I get home...Thanks again. I have never had a white strain and that is top of my list.

I plan on mostly indicas but I love the stone of a sativa. My first plant will be white widow followed probably by snow white and white rhino. Also want to go with some kush and maybe some blueberries like norther blue down the road.

Good point with the topping. I would probably just bend them over if they get to close to the light and train them a bit if needed. If I flower young at less than a foot, I should be able keep most shorter plants under 3 feet.

Any idea how long I can keep a clone small in veg for? Ideally, if I can go 8 weeks that would be awesome....I can cut a cutting, veg it while the orginal plant flowers and then just replace it.

Thanks again.
