In-line Fans and humidity control! Is a dehumidifier needed?!?!?for drying

I got both dehumidifier and in-line fan. But when I get high humidity in grow space and didn’t want to wait for the dehumidifier to takes its sweet time I would turn on my in-line fan and put it on max or close to max and humidity levels would drop, it Gots me wondering is a dehumidifier even needed!??

Maybe. But probably yes. Are you planning on running the fan a lot? Like when lights off also. The fan will pull the humid air out. But if its off and not running you might need the dehumidifier. Definitely need it at harvest though.

definitely need it at harvest why do you say that ? I was thinking of placing a in-line fan in the middle of the dry room above the buds with some a/c of course.

To dry your buds. If you can run your fan 24/7 till its dry you might not need the dehumidifier. But if you already have it, it makes drying easier. its must have equipment for bigger harvests where a fan and hvac isnt enough to promote drying.

I’m running 3 inline fans in a 6.5-7ft tent , I have 2- 6 inch inlines a and a 4 inch on one tent, RH is between 45-60 % and temp is 70-76f

When the lights are off is the only time I see any need to watch for high humidity, >80%. And like said above what the room environment is what will rule it all. Summer time exhaust on temp controller, rest of the year the exhaust is on 24/7.

I use a humidifier outside my tent to bring humidity up a bit , I’ve found controlling the outside of the grow tent rather then Inside is easier to maintain temps , am I over powered on fans ? Maybe but my temps stay pretty even throughout the veg stage and I’m running pretty hot lights in a smaller space luckily they are air cooled

I just realized your talking bout drying buds…. Same principle I suppose, control the outside of tent rh and temp and it should be a bit easier to control

I never had a issue with building up humidity but more with lowering controlling humidity. I also don’t have any air going in the grow tent, i understand you want a air coming in to have fresh air circulating in n out but so far I haven’t had any trouble with that.

Air coming from both sides would help lower humidity in the tent , I have a 4 inch blowing filter air in, and a 6 inch sucking filtered air out and a 6 inch blowing through my cooltubes to keep temp down , my cool tube has ducting that runs into an open exhaust vent upstairs to divert heat away from grow area , humidity will stay 45 without humidifier running,,, if I want to boost humidity I just turn humidifier on outside the tent , I have 2 just in case , but your trying to lower humidity sooo, more air flow through the tent will help and dehumidifier if it’s really that high , best of luck others may have different opinions as I’m a new grower myself but what makes sence makes sense.

If you need any more details about my set up I’m glad to share , I’m planning on using my room for veg, flower and dry stages so temp and rh will be somthing that for sure needs to be controlled in my environment

Yeah I have a 10 inch in line fan,one a/c and one dehumidifier I have a ac infinity temperature, humidity meter and Mann does it fluctuate. I have a hard time keeping the numbers consistent.

I run my system in a basment , it’s a dwc system so lots of water I havnt had high rh temps it usually just stays where I want it , I use lots of air circulation , that’s all I do and it works for my I’ll send pics of the set up to help better understand

I moved from the standard T6 controller to one of the new Controller67 units. It's way more useable when it comes to finding a stability point.
