Immigration.

The Obama Administration is not too keen on entering a debate on immigration reform. they don't want that on their plate, it's too late.

i was reading this article and noticed a few things that raised eyebrows.

one, the IMMIGRATION BILL will affect the DEA's budget, it's going up. not a good thing.

two, it calls for creating some sort of ID card with a 'chip'. this sounds waaay too similar to RFID.

anybody who wants to know what RFID is, youtube mythbusters RFID, and find out why they've never tried to mess with it.

RFID was meant to be used in warehouses, for inventory control. they were not meant to be used for identifying purposes in humans because the information is vulnerable. the reason is that the RFID has no control over who can read it. anybody with 200 bucks and some knowledge on programming can make an RFID scanner that can read and store information from people walking a few feet away.

some of the top minds in information technology and cyber-ethics have been warning of this for years. from credit-card companies embedding RFID's in their credit cards, to the 'smart passports', the technology is not ready to be considered a safe way to transport personal, financial or medical information. yet the lobbyists in washington are working hard convincing politicians the technology is.

keep you're eyes on this one. you can kiss you're right to privacy good-bye if you're gonna be forced to carry an RFID on you.
