Im a plant murderer...

Hello all,

Posted a few threads but i'm still fucking my plants up,

400w hps, 4"inline fan hooked up, 4x4x6.5 grow tent, temps hitting high 90'sf (is know its terrible) humidity is ok 50/60% usually now, i tried using a passive intake method, the box isn't particularly well sealed (zips/velcro) but i zipped it all up and i couldn't see much light getting through, but the passive wasn't enough, i had to have the tent open (again), even with the fan sucking hot air right off the light, the temperature was nearly getting to 100f, with it open its like 85/90? Ambient temps are hot too though inside or out hitting 78/80f

my question is, have i really done all that i can considering i cant afford A/C? my ideas are moving the lights up and (maybe) the plants up so the light is nearer the vent holes to give shorter ducting and/or moving the fan to the bottom to suck in lots of the slightly colder air in from outside?

thanks for any help!!!!

The air outside the tent is much cooler so get a large fan and point it in the tent from outside with door open at all times when lights on. Next time get a cooltube ,dump hot air outside and only run lights at night/early morning so go to 16/8 if you have to. When Autumn comes you will no longer have these issues.

Also, depending on what ballast you're running (magnetic will run hotter than digital), maybe get it outside the tent if you already haven't.

thankyou all!

yes cool tube for sure next time! ballast was outta the tent, thats hotter than my light i think! already running them at night, though it isn't much cooler then, temps outside the tent are 25.5C or about 77f, it seems the passive intake of my fan isn't nearly large enough...

so keep the tent doors open when the lights are on y'all reckon? will try and get some pictures when the lights come on in an hour or two

thanks everyone

I would put one fan at the top of one of the holes to suck air out of the tent and keep a bottom hole open for fresh air

You have to have a cool tube in a small enclosed space. I tried my open reflector with a 400w and it got to 100f really fast, it would not work so I started over. LED may be something to look into.
