my plants are showing signs of nutrient lockup and i checked the ph of the tap water ive been using to water them and my test kit only goes to 7.6 and thats what it is showing. I just barely transplanted them to a different soil so im not sure what the ph of the other soil was, but my guess is it was high. My plants look like they have stopped growing. Im sure that the transplant and ph jump from soils was pretty big and probably shocked them? My question is what do i do now? Do i flush them? And if so what kind of water do i use? Can i go from watering with a 7.6+ ph to using 6.5 ph water? Or do i need to gradually bring the ph down?

No need to flush just start watering with pH 6.5 water from now on. You can use pH 6 water to try and bring the soil pH down for the first water or two. Patience my friend, you plants should come through this.

k thanks for the reply. Also i bought api ph down for aquariums that contains sulfuric acid. Is that the right one to use, or does it matter?

It's phosphoric acid you want ideally but I think Sulphuric acid would work. Be careful not to over do it though.

The next time you mix your soil, mix in one SMALL handful of Granulated Dolomite Lime for every two gallons of soil mix. The GDL will keep the PH stable.
