Why did you sell?
Had bulbs like women have shoes. I had 70 and 150 w CMHs that I used vertically. Still have some bigger CFLs to raise temps. I know how to improvise so hopefully a heater won't be necessary. Hate being drunk, next to credit card, and craving me some Cree.

Hey, so I have these 30w LED floodlight housings from crappy broken china lights...and I want to put some nice LEDs in them.

Would these LED chips and drivers fit right in a typical 30w Chinese housing?
Also, are the XPE's some of the better CREEs now? I saw that hans has changed over to them(from XTE).

CREE XPE - warmwhite 3000k

CREE XPE - 8red 2blue

edit: CREE XPE 5blue/5red - this doesnt look to bad either, has driver and led chip.. but its 5blue 5 red
http://www.ebay.com/itm/200963800405

Driver
http://www.ebay.com/itm/320853337761

Would these be compatible together and work for standard US outlet etc?
Any suggestions?
Thx :joint:

Yip...should work well...just measure from diode to diode (or get the seller to provide the measurements) and then the opening from the crappy reflector to see if they fit. I know the 50w XPG's fit perfectly for the 50w floodlight replacements

I think you will find that the cree XTE are a newer led than the XPE. The XTE dont come in red, i think thats why hans use them. Also the XTE can take a max of 1500mA current whereas the XPE whites can take 1000mA and the reds only 700mA. The XTE are also 5w diodes where the XPE are 3w. The Cree XTE 50w led chip is the same size as XPE also so i assume they would fit as well.

Hey MPass you may want to stay away from the XPE 30 watt. I'm not too crazy on their performance in my Veg cab, XT-Es all the way, though maybe XPE 50 watters wouldn't be all bad.

ah my bad.. mixed them up.
I meant hans went for XBD

"4 Cree XBD Royal Blue, 17 Cree XBD 701 Red, 2 Cree XBD White and 10 Osram LH-CPDP DeepRed Rebel Led's"

edit: so which of these chips should I be looking at? XPE XPG XTE. is xte the only decent option?
I already have lots of blue and red with the hans, so Im looking for some white light.. the 3000k looks nice

It seems that it's intensity and efficiency of the XT-Es is what the doctor ordered. If we're talking Ebay arrays then multiple XP-Es/XP-Gs are probably good, especially in the Veg arena. Those 120 degree beam angles don't help us. Here's a XP-G2 that I think would work great in the veg room.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/50W-Cree-XLamp-XP-G2-White-6000K-6500K-High-Power-LED-Light-50-Watt-XPG2-5000LM-/200969204043?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item2ecab2b14b
Technical Parameters:
Power: 50W
Model Name: CREE XLamp XP-G2
Emitted Color: White
Color Temperature: 6000K-6500K
DC Forward Voltage (VF): 30V-36Vdc
DC Forward Current (IF): 1.5A
LED Viewing Angle: 115 degree
Parameter Min. Max. Unit
Luminous Intensity 8000 9000 LM
Viewing Angle 100 110 deg
Color Temperature 3000 3200 K
Wave Length / / nm
Forward Voltage 30.0 36.0 V
Forward Current 3 / A

Then again some of those Bridgelux based whites arrays are pretty good for the price.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Bridgelux-100watt-LED-module-BXRA-56C9000-J-00-BXRA-30E7000-J-00-/190915443050?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item2c7372796a

I wonder about all the HK/Chinese Ebay arrays and COBs though. I don't think you can run them at max current without great cooling and binning is almost impossible.

Those 50w are nice, but the main point of what I'm doing is filling up these empty 30w LED Flood Lights(have 3 of them).
I have 4 hans panels running, so these new chips would just be for additional light. (white light pref, since the hans has none)

And the only 30w cree I see are the XPEs... no XTEs.. maybe I will just wait if the XPEs are a not very good
thx

Well, how bad can these XPE's really be? For whatever reason the XPEs are a little more expensive than the XTE.
Could it be worse than the no-name chinese LEDs that were supposed to work on these floods I got?

Also, what is the best viewing angle? 90 degrees? I dont see any of these chips with under 110 degrees ..

Didn't you get some XPEs chroni? What is the verdict? :b

Maybe I'll just get one to see how they do in the flood casing
thanks :joint:

Franjan = XPE's

Me = 50w XPG's (and i think caretak3r is using them aswell) ...i'm still using them in my crappy 50w floodlight fixtures...no complaints from me....

I have a 3'x2'x5' grow tent running with one 300w led grow panel (flowering spectrum) and two 68w 4200 lumen cfls (2700k) and two 23w 1500 lumen cfls (6500k)

How many more watts do I need if I want my plants atleast 2-3 ft tall with good heavy buds?

I would say 500 more watts of LEDs and 8 more 68w cfls. Trying to stay away from hps n mh.

It would be cool to find either the supply to make a 500-700w led for under $300 or order one from alibaba but dont trust it.

Thinking about going for 2 Hydrogrow 336x any opinions? Thanks
Skip them......their rebranded Chinese panels very well marketed as the best but far from it. You can get serious gear and high quality panels at that price range.

You already have enough led wattage (is 300w actual draw?) for that space.....if you want to maximize it for the better replace those cfl s for cree household bulbs from home depot.....six pack is eighty bucks and would do wonders around your flower panel.

Watts are really misleading with led's. Since there are so many different led types/models/qualities, 300w of one doesn't mean it's = to 300w of another. 150w of top quality will perform at least the same if not better than 300w of poor quality. With hps the only way to increase output is by adding wattage because the technology is basically at it's max. With led's you there are a few options in diodes that will significantly increase output while using the same wattage. And those tech jumps happen at least once a year. But at this point the best led's are just reaching/passing the true equivalency point. And so by using the cheaper lower performers, you aren't truly being better than hps. Also, for a 3x2 space, 500w-700w of anything is a waste for that space even considering cooling cost benefits.

The question isn't how many what's I need. It's what are the lighting conditions(photon output) that is needed to be meet...then what panels/DIY will deliver that performance?

Check out these great really low wattage grows

Yea it has nothing on it just a sticker saying 100x3w* it looks exactly like the one on amazon for $200. The cree bulbs are 9.5w?

I would say that panel probably runs at about 150-200w max. I've heard/experienced Chinese led panels never run at full power. Most run at about 2/3 power.

Yeah the cree's are 9.5w. This is what they look like:-http://www.amazon.com/Cree-9-5-Watt-White-2700K-Light/dp/B00BYG7O8A/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1381027927&sr=8-1&keywords=cree+9.5-watt

Mr.jpg Oh my have I got a question for the led crowd here. No I haven't dealved since I bought a used ufo in oh shit think it was 2010 and I had no idea how to take care of it, plus the orig owner passed away(may he rest in peace) so I was lacking valid info, and NO I didn't have the gumption to come a lookin for threads here im stubborn and sheeeet mang! So a friend wants me to get one to replace or supplement the current t-5's 6000k blue (412 watts lol) that I currently use. [email protected][SUP] [/SUP]
