After reading a good many pages in this thread, its seems you could boil it down to one page with one answer:

If its not sold by a RIU vendor, or its not DIY, you choice is shit.........

I thought this was a thread meant to help people choose an LED growlight. Which led me to my first mistake, expecting common courtesy and civil discusion. But obviously, I've been wrong all my life about that. It appears that bullying and browbeating, with a little chest thumping tossed in, is the new standard for educating people! Well if that's the case, then a good many of you should take a bow for the fine job your doing......... I bet Trump would hire you as PR reps.........

@pop22 Mars has shitty customer service I had 2 panels go bad in 15 months and the first light they sent me diodes to repair myself so I smashed it lol so when I say Mars sucks it's from my experience with them. And I say DIY is the way to go and I've helped many people make their own it's not hard at all but people make up excuses not to DIY

Hyperbole in the morn..in

The diode is key, not the company building the light or the individual doing it themselves. Plenty of info to read about, instead of making claims.....that someone told you about?

Realstyles had his MarsII, others have had Black Dog, or Growblu or Apollo or Platinum or Vipar or Black Star or Pro Source or Solar Storm or Evergrow or Magnum. All the help needed for diy is here and great for some. The venders that advertise here will even help. For others such as I, a prebuilt light makes sense and vero and Cree cob units advertised here fit the bill. Way beyond Mars in every area except dated tired propaganda.

Ha! This is something else. I'll get back to you'ze later if I need point out the obvious in the scripts. I doubt many will need it though. Building a DIY air conditioner duct system. I'm a builder & love it, (not a claim, lol!) almost everything I do beside build a light is DIY. I AM a fan. With that said. I suggest all the good people here go back & read this blubbery back & decide for yourselves if I made false claims or any for that matter? I can point out quite a few another has made though. I never had to say tons of folks love the Amare light I bought, from experience with them. Someone else chimed in & said it for me. Thank you! Because there's tons of journals on it with great grows & happy campers. :) , just not here in RIU do to the haters.
@REALSTYLES, I'd like to be cool with you as I'll probobly be needing to learn from you how to build a light this year, so no need to be calling light owners! Really bro.? BTW, no one would be pointing out any difficulties with beginning phases of learning if Captian crazy (Al-B) wasn't so adimit about hating & costs of good commercial panels. Mine to be exact. Saying things but not backing anything. At all.... I say build if you're up to it & if you're gonna buy, then buy quality (the people's choice) That's my honest opinion on the matter if anyone cares. P.S., none of this was over the SC BTW that I'm aware of. Oh, & I'm happy with my choice & outstanding service I received.
@pop22 , Thank you for noticing the ongoing dilemma here for those trying to utilize a thread for new LED grower whom need help making their decision on a panel to Purchase.
PEACE OUT!!!!

And I don't disagree with you. I like DIY, and I'm buying my parts for my first build. But that's me. or you. Not everyone one, no matter what you tell them, is going to take any interest in anything DIY. Their reasons are there own and that's their choice to make. So what advice do you give them? What to tell those who can't/won't do DIY and have tight budgets? Mr. X has a max $100 he can afford. Should he buy: a Mars LED, a 4 bulbT5, or a couple boxes of CFLs?
My point is, we should help everyone in some way. To me, that's what this thread is about, helping others across the spectrum of ability.

I had a Mustang once. Worst piece of crap I've ever owned. So by that, Ford's suck! And tell me what company's tech support, in any industry, doesn't suck more often than not? I worked in the computer industry doing field support for Hewlett Packard. MY support thru them SUCKED!!! I don't care what product you buy or from whom, support is a crapshoot. So, maybe we should build everything we use.........

Do-it-yourself beats anything premade out there. There are great benefits and flex for the one that's willing to read up a little and do a little research on how to put things together. There is a solution for any budget. This forum is probably the one with most knowledgeable diy people, so therefore that gets pushed here most of the time.

Hate it or love it, pushing Amare, Mars or whatever premade panel and their marketing is just not good enough. If you have bought into it, then fine be happy. There are plenty of other forums that have plenty of people that have bought into some flashy pages on a website that I think it might be actually much more pleasant to talk to, since you share the same ideas.

To make it simple to understand, it is hard being a democrat trying to convince the republican that he's wrong. It just won't happen.

I have a grow room of 80cm x 80cm. I need something to replace a HPS400w but with less cost. I am in Portugal and have to buy in europe. My budget is 400€ (446 USD or 310BP). I am tempted to wait for the new panels of GN coming in 420 but i doubt it fits my budget.

I am not a DIY guy but i have seen all videos from growmau and all the other guys and my questions now are the choice of best material for my space and budget. My problem with DIY is doing it wrong and burn the money.

Here is myster X's money better spent, and why we push so many towards DIY and like such panel. About $120 can get you a single 3590($43), passive sink(mechatronics giga, $29) , and 100w or 150w driver(45-50$).

You would looking at 1.8µmols/wmin with that. And would take that over a MARs anything(cree, pro, epi, whatever) any day. Mars can't touch 1.8µmols+ with a 10 foot pole.
Let alone if someone wants to go down the rabbit hole and get cutting edge.

PS...hps is 1.8-2.0µmols/w...hps is a far better value than HPS...heat included.

Alright RIU mind if I extrapolate some advice from you all for my first build?
I'm looking for a 4x4 (tent size) DIY design. I'd like to have a multiple bar system so I can upgrade as I go.
I was looking at the first purchase being 8 3590 @3500k 36v on two 36" bars 5.886" of course. Powering them is where I need advice alot, what to run them at. Planned on 240H Meanwell drivers.

Budget isn't to much of a worry, I'd like any and all advice.
To the members I've seen on YouTube thanks for getting me here haha.
Thanks in advance.

That's my exact build. You MUST actively cool it though.20160220_104424.jpg 20160218_052548.jpg 20160212_220848.jpg 20160212_220151.jpg

Before I posted this, I was just gonna ask you what size tent/space yours covers. I had seen your light a few times pop up.
I'll have plenty more questions im sure when it comes closer to order and build time.

Hey all, came here after finding GrowMau5 on Youtube

I was thinking about going DIY, but I'd like to start premade, then go from there.

What do you guys think about an LED Grow floodlight? Like this one?

I've seen the brand of LED before EpiLed, and the thing is basically a giant heatsink. I figure I could ziptie some fans on it if it gets too hot.
