The 80w hans panel can out yield even a blackstar 240w(135w actual draw) due to the quality osram/cree diodes. Check out multipass's grow to see the 80w(?) in action, couple other guys are using them in here as well.

I got 76 dry grams off one v.1 65w with a severely deficient bitch/ and 55 grams dried off of two crappy autos on my first run with it 2yrs ago==== still runs like a champ, which most chinese panels wont unfortunately.

ok, nice, would it require additional cooling besides the 2 PC fans i plan to use for ventilation?
also, is a DIY active carbon filter enough for odor control?

The driver is remote and takes the brunt of the 80 watts heat output(my 65w version gets hot in the summer), so you can put it outside of the grow box to make the cooling requirement very low.

Don't know about your DIY scrubber, it depends on the size of the plant and the amount/quality of the carbon

this is my grow cabinet, im planning on doing veg and mother on the left, and budding on the right, for a mini SOG grow
my question is, should I use 2 led light bulbs in the sockets i already have, or should i use a ufo, or light pad. money is slightly an issue, but i also dont want to get bulbs if they are shit, any help would be greatly appreciated
I Would Go With The Led Bulbs For Veg And An 80watt Hans For Flower.That Combo Would Rock Your Awsome Grow Cab :hump:

I second the Dawgs advise, the bulbs you have should be fine for veg, and the Hans will really shine during flowering.

Also guys, Im curious How long on my sgs 160's before they start to show noticeable decline in light intensity in terms of hours if any one has a good guess. I heard something like 40-60 thousand hours before they take a steep drop, not sure, which is why im asking! thanks in advance!

He is probably the sickest, and most violent man in deathmatch wrestling, ever.
I'll admit, that I have always liked wrestling, especially deathmatch wrestling.
I grew up very badly abused by my family, and the only thing that I had in my life as a child that I could equate my situation to, was pro-wrestling.
I watched those guys get up from fall after fall, and hit after hit, just like I had to, and keep going like it didn't just happen.
It was the only comfort I could draw from in a very bleak world.
Jun Kasai personifies that to me, the man gets thrown threw a plate of glass, pops back up with a body that is pouring blood, and says let's do it again.
After a lifetime of abuse, I literally broke my neck working as a therapist, trying to help children who were being abused.
Whether I like it or not, that is how life treats me, and I have to remember to stay strong, and know that I can take anything it throws at me, and then some.

Hello,

I'm new here, as you can see, it's my first post :grin:
I'm gathering gear in order to start a grow, also my first time. I have a cab of about 60x40x90 (centimeters) and I'm looking for a LED panel. I've been reading around and I've found some supposedly good LED panels like the Lighthouse Hydro Blackstar series but most of the, supposedly, best ones are made in the USA and I'm from Europe and shipping costs are a bitch. Can anyone suggest some LED panels that are being made in Europe at about €100-150 suitable for my cab size?

Edit: I was leaning towards a White Widow from Greenhouse Seeds since I've read that it's an easy strain for beginners and also has a good yield. Should I get it from another seedbank?
Also, is my cab large enough to fit 2 plants?

We basically have the same cab space and I also use the Hans Panel. The temps are cooler compared to CFLs. I have only tried one plant per grow. You might fit two but it might be a tight fit using normal sized pots.

I met a guy who says for around $400 he can put up to 3000 1w leds onto a 4x2 fixture. That would be 3000w of led power?

what would two (2) 2x2 panels cost. What type of leds, and how many watts are each led. Are the lights safe to run for at least 12 hours, is there an external ballast, do they keep cool running temperatures, and what is the actual wattage draw related to the watts in light output? (lumens, lux and par)

Use 1W led, since it is the most effective led in terms of price, brightness to wattage consumption. It will run at 80-90F without cooling fan. All light will be powered by external power supply.

For your 2x2 panel, I assume it is 2'x2'. Is this a light fixture? Or just a piece of wood? I can mount up to 1400 LEDs on that panel. It will cost between $200 to $250 depending on your configuration (# of power supplies, # of color, moon light, etc).


For 1400 leds, it will be 18500 lumens.

I stalk these forums regularly and now own 7 a-51 panels. 5-160 + 2-190 and love them. But I'm looking into side lighting options and am interested in some input. I am currently running 3 flower units that are about 3'*4' with 14 inches between units and 14 inches between walls. Each 3*4 has 2 a-51 panels above them.

Now I have been eye balling some 2 foot and 4 foot led t8 tubes but I am not liking the wide price margin or the fact that all the tubes I've found are only 8-22 watts but tend to have 100-288 diodes which obviously tells me these are very low power diodes. I'm only looking for supplement lighting to fill in the sides with. Something that is not quite the power per diode of my a-51's but I was hoping for something a bit closer to 1 watt per diode or 40-60 watts over a 4' stretch. Again not super powerful, but something. Maybe its not LED I'm after either, maybe someone here knows better which is why I came. I do like the LED for the low heat output in my space and the tubes idea was for long evenly distributed light for all 4 feet, but I'm just not happy with what I've found spec wise.

I recommend 4' T5HO bulbs for side-lighting if you can vent the heat. They're not nearly as hot as HPS, but hotter than LED. You may want to check out COB floods if you want to go for efficiency.

NO

An LED that's rated at 1W shouldn't be run at 1W. You lose efficiency every moment that it's running, and the LED will burn out much faster. Most LED's are driven at roughly 2/3 of maximum.

Heat is currently not an issue yet, but obviously it could become an issue so I'm going to avoid the HO's. I didn't even think about COB flood lights though, I'll have to check into them. Thanks for the input.

Anyone else have any input feel free. I'm open to experimentation as long as it doesn't adversely affect my sealed room.

^^^^^Cree house hold a19 globes from home depot. Would be best for side lighting and most cost effective. Or Hans panels I 'd like to try side lighting with that

Never used co2 (not hatin, just statin), never had a sealed room. I think fresh circ air is very important

HOT5s do not get 'hot', unless you cram more in than your space can handle, but even then a vent fan would resolve

You want ~ 85*s for veg (HOs may help here), and ~ 75*s for early flower, and ~ 65* for late flower

Hi azhden.... I know a fair bit mate, particularly regarding COB and multichip LED's, I have 4 of the various kinds of VANQ chips, 2x 72w 7-band multichips(660,630,600,440,470,380,730) 1x 100w 7-band version and 1x 100w 380-840nm "full spectrum" phosphor technology. They do perform, believe me, very bright and excellent colour blending, single-point light source perfect for closet grows or small number of plants.. some of the chips are 32-35mil size red diodes which are apparently less efficient than single chips 1-3w chips, but it makes no difference as they are so tightly packed together as one diode they make up for it on overall intensity. heat is not an issue even though many people will tell you that COB's/multichips are a pain to keep cool with all the diodes so close together but that is bollocks azhden, I use stock CPU coolers found on ebay for under £5, they handle the 72w versions with ease and even the cheap ones can handle 65-85w of heat dissipation easily and are barely warm to the touch since LED's only emit a percentage of their wattage as heat itself.. as for the 100w versions I invested in some higher spec "arctic alpine" CPU coolers, the arctic alpine 11 plus is rated 100w TDP and 64 pro is 90-95w TDP and they handle the 100 watters nicely and are both under £10, although I'm told CPU coolers with many "thin fins" instead of thick fins are apparently better at dissipating heat away from the LED. I power them via 12v power supply and buck boost modules with constant current and voltage regulation, that means I can drive them at 30% 50% or up to 100% power!, and as you may know power supply and buck modules are peanuts on eBay, cost me maybe £20 for a 360w 12v regulated switching power supply and 2x 150w buck's, just try and find LED drivers at that wattage for that price.. Most of all azhden he price sells itself as all four cost me just over £100, and that's for over 300 actual watts, with heatsinks and power supply's I'm touching maybe £120, but I'm growing only 2 plants so maybe it's overkill, anyway they do perform well, viewing angle of chips are wide at 120 degrees without optics but I don't use optic as some light is lost through glass lens, to compensate I keep the plastic collimator on the chip to direct the light more which works better than without. For my 1-2 plant grow they are very effective and even better when paired with 30-50w cree xpg-2 modules or a couple of 2700k CFL's, distance from plants is 12 inches, and female WWxBB love them, best out of the bunch is the vanq 380-840nm phosphor LED, basically 45mil bridgelux chips covered with patent phosphor that imitates full broad range of wavelengths including UV+IR. My advice is to try CoB and multichips yourself, it will cost much less that some big-arse panel at similar power draw, "PICOGRAV" done a grow with VERO COB's, "bbspills" also with cree cxa3050, both of which proved very successful, I've even grew from start to finish with cheapo 50w eBay warm whites that even with lots of green still flower as good as any 200w CFL could, you'd be surprised what LED lighting can do to our beloved plants.. One last thing to epitomise where I'm coming from, I have just paid £39 for a 200w version of the 380-840nm phosphor on VANQ eBay, paired with a cree COB it is more than enough and the price itself should encourage more folks to try..:neutral:

hope this helps you out a bit, like I say DIY is much cheaper than fully assembled panels, but if you do want to spend your money on a panel then Mars2, solar storm, or vipar are good brands wiournals behind them..
