I have a smaller size grow tent 2.5' x 2.5' x 7' and I am looking to invest in an LED light based on my grow situation. Ive been looking for a while now and I'm currently set on getting this light from Advanced LED Lights. Its the 300 XTE. Can I get a few opinions on this light? Id like to know if it's a quality light worth the coin or if I should look to do better for that price range. I really like the dimmable features and that they use both Cree and Osram led's. Any opinions would be much appreciated. I am fairly new to the whole led scene.

It's going to be a good light. Ive used every other advanced led model but not this one. They've all been great lights so i trust this one is too, especially with the crees and osrams. Always had good experriences with the lights and with the customer service. They are one of the few led companies I'll recommended.

That's a badass lamp for sure, very "tuneable". I own a few of the older ones.
This would be even more badass, get 4 of these; http://www.a51led.net/product/rw75

Their customer service is the best of ANY company I have EVER dealt with!
Have you seen this?

Wow they have an XML 650? I didnt see that one listed on their website only the 150 and 350. The XML model is a very nice looking light and I really like those 10W cree's. If you had to decide between the XML 350 or the XTE 300 which would you go with? I like the XTE because it is modular.

The 650 just went on presale to previous customers and folks on their email distribution list. Id go with the XTE over the XML model, but cant go wrong with either.

Are the A51 lights tunable? I am considering those lights as well. Lots of good reviews on here about them.
Not tunable but they do have switches to turn on/off the reds or whites. They're solid lights too.

Tuneable...only with the switches. 1 for the reds, 1 for the whites, whereas the Advanced has dimmers for each channel (reds, whites and blues).

The XM-L350 would be overkill for your space.
4 Area51 RW75s or the Advanced XT-E, mmm...?
4 smaller lights has the advantage of being able to be configured to differing plant heights

Ya it's really a tough call. I'm trying to figure out if I could squeeze 4 of those suckers in my tent. That would be the ultimate grow tent for sure haha

2 Area51 RW150s would be a little cheaper than the 4, 75 watters.
The more I think about it, the Area51s would almost be overkill. (48 watts per sq. ft.)
The Advanced XT-E 300 may work better because you can dim it down if needed.

A51 doesn't fit a 2.5x2.5' space very well. One RW-75 with some Cree lightbulbs from Home Depot would supplement it pretty well to fill the 5" of space all the way around that wouldn't be lit appropriately at 15w/sq/ft from just one RW-75. Basically need to double that to 30-35w/sq ft.

Adding a second RW-75 would do that, but it wouldn't be proportional.

Could use 4 RW-75s (or 2 RW-150s) but now you're up to 60w/sq ft. (Not sure where @ellydee came up with 48w/sq ft.).

Even 48w/sq ft. would be overkill. If it were me, I'd go with 1 RW-75 and about 8-10 9.5-12w Cree lightbulbs around the sides as sidelighting. Or, wait for the next A51 fixture which is supposed to be narrower and fits together for different spaces.

If someone doesn't care about energy efficiency, they could do 60w/sq ft of high-efficiency light. But, they'll be way past the point of diminishing returns which is probably around 40w/sq ft for these lights. (For your MARS II epi-whatever diodes, 55w/sq ft is probably the point of diminishing returns, therefore 48w/sq ft may not sound bad to you.).

what up with the hydrogrow sol? I see there modular design. No more down time. I guess just unscrew housing and replace with new one. I like this! Says top bin osram

So in that case, wouldn't it make slightly more sense to throw a RW150 in the middle and need much fewer Cree bulbs to supplement, perhaps just 3 or 4 down one side, rather than all the aggravation of rigging up 10 bulbs? (Just thinking logically)

Where does it say that? I looked at HydroGrowLED's product pages and I don't see any mention of Osram. Just G4, which Epiled makes too.

I can't answer your question, but interestingly, on their website, if you scroll down to "Recommended Usage", they recommend the Extreme series lights for growing MMJ and not the Sol. https://www.hydrogrowled.com/LED-Grow-Lights-C7.aspx

The Extreme Series lights use "3W High Power LEDs from Bridgelux, Epistar and SemiLED"

Yes, that works. 30" is the optimal coverage in one direction. I just like more coverage. When I think of an RW150 I immediately think of 2 RW-75s because of the increased coverage. Which then takes me to the increased coverage of distributing watts through more sources of sidelighting.

To me this seems like a matter of convienience. If I were in a 5x5 tent (or 10x10 room), managing a lot of lights might not be worth the efficiency gains. Larger fixtures like the 150 make sense. In a 2.5x2.5 space which will be limited to one plant(?), smaller fixtures are pretty much a one-time labor expense.

(But, the Cree lightbulbs won't be as efficient as the A51 fixture. It's a tradeoff. I'm liking more surrounding light than strong single points. But, a 4x4 tent is about as far as I'd go trying to manage that kind of discrete lighting. Most people probably wouldn't go that far.).
